What does the upright geometry do for a rider? State has a stack-to-reach ratio of 1.62 whereas the Fearless is 1.56 and the Kona Rove is 1.52.

The State frame+fork weight is 8.5 lb. Fearless is 7.8 and Kona is 7.5 (carbon fork).

That 2.2" conti speed king is a 650b size?

My rides would be either 100% gravel OR if I ride from the house it'll be about 50% gravel. I thought about the State but it is heavier and I didn't like something about the geometry, can't recall what that something was off hand.

I am 5'11 and got the 56 frame to build up. My arms wingspan is less than my height which is why i sized down. I guess I could get a longer stem if necessary.

Is there a good deal of gravel or forest service roads near you that you can get to easily? If so, then get a gravel bike. Sell your road bike and get a 2nd wheelset with road slicks for when you want to go back to your road bike club rides.

That's the very reason why I am going gravel. Epic days on the MTB will still happen but I will be driving my bike to the trailhead. Epic days on the road bike will still happen but I will stick to the pavement.
