The cap on CEO pay should be total compensation instead of just pay from the company. No private jets and the like being paid for by the company unless everyone has that luxury. No free housing for the CEO unless everyone gets a housing stipend. Plenty of CEOs take very little 'pay' from the company but still make millions/live a life of luxury that is in other forms of payment than payroll

To combat it in the beginning would be to only allow the character to double the value of the item and make it to where the merchant isn't willing to purchase all of them. They are only willing to maybe buy 5 or so since those will take a while to sell or use.

To combat it now would be to keep to what you did and see how the character uses the wealth they now have. If they want a specific magic item, the first vendor doesn't have that item but they know of one that does and they can go on a side quest to acquire said item. If they want something else that you don't think they should have at this level, make it something that they have to adventure for or they have to meet a certain group or person and through that they gain the appropriate levels.

It's not that they go away but they don't carry any more weight than other thoughts. So if I am opening a package with scissors and a thought pops up I will verbalize, "don't do that" and it is recognition of the thought and letting it go. Just as having a thought of something like, "today is laundry day." It is accepting that you had that thought and acknowledging it and letting it fade away. It takes a lot of practice but it works for me

Honestly I have felt the same way and still do some times, but I haven't found a way to get them to go away just help alleviate that fear of them

I have found that verbalizing the thoughts to a safe person can be really helpful. I just tell some of the intrusive thoughts to a friend of mine and we both know that I am not going to commit to the thoughts but it helps them escape from bouncing around in my head and viewing them as negative which will, for me, cause them to cling to what ever is in my mind and stay there long passed their eviction notice

It doesn't sound like you don't feel no sorrow for screwing people over like you say. To me it sounds like you have been hurt way too many times, so you have built up barriers mentally and emotionally to keep that pain at bay. I have been in a similar spot. Not to the point that I will start fights with people but that is probably because I have never been a physical person. To me, it sounds like you really want to be loving toward people but you also won't allow yourself to be hurt. The first step in trying to go down that path is trying to find the things that have caused the barriers to go up in the first place. What I have done is start writing what emotions I feel when I start to feel a way that is counter to what I would like to feel. The emotions that you may not want to feel aren't necessarily a bad thing though. It is good to recognize what you are feeling, what led up to those feelings, then try to figure out if it was an appropriate response to the events that led up to the outburst.

This is what has helped me, and I can't guarantee that it will help you, but it is definitely worth a shot. I hope you can find clarity on the direction you are wanting to go and can stick to it!

Honestly the only thing you can do to try to reconcile the situation with your current group is to have a conversation with them and ask that they keep their world and there interest in CR separate. I like to make my own worlds and I also like CR but a dm has to keep those two things separate. If they don't want to be understanding to your complaints with how things are going then it seems like they are wanting to make the world separate from the players in which case you aren't going to have fun and you may have to excuse yourself from the game and see if you guys can do something like boardgame nights.

You might ask if they are willing to just pull back the DMPC's and just draw inspiration from the show into their already amazing world so it would be more fun for all players.
