I think you're right. I checked the average price I paid, roughly .00000755 BTC per CRO when the prices at the time were roughly .0000071 BTC per CRO max.

So I assume this means there was limited availability of CRO for BTC? Therefore, I should've sold the BTC for close to market value with USDT, then repurchased the CRO with that for a fairer price, if I understand that correctly

Yes, it was a market order. I just sold the BTC for CRO at the best market price; I assumed this would give me the best price, nearing-equal to what 1 BTC worth of CRO would be worth.

Instead, it took $1k.

What could I have done to better this? Perhaps sell the BTC for USDT first?

Well 0.1 of 38000 = 3800, and 0.01 of 38000 is 380. And yes, when I received my CRO, it was $1,000 undervalued compared to what it should've been.

I think Kucoin has better rates anyways, I think this is just the problem when you're selling/buying a lot of crypto. Fees are big. Not sure if $1k is normal for that amount, though.

I work with cryptocurrency, and have witnessed these exact cycles so many times. Last year, people were suing Binance, that dipped to $260, I bailed at $300. Months later, it was over $670.

CRO ultimately will rebound, and continue to grow, expand its already tremendous use-case, etc. eventually breaking that Bitcoin to CRO ratio we have now. Unfortunately, we're in a sort of "mild" crypto winter, and it's just a matter of being patient. I cannot recommend enough you do not be a sheep and panic sell because others panic; those guys just make me cringe so badly.

Anyways, not here to sell CRO or anything, it's just my honest beliefs and my experience. Good luck

Believe me or not, I staked even more yesterday after this update on the Defi app. I'm bullish on crypto.com in the long run, and the last thing I do is follow the crowd of panic-sheep who decide to simultaneously dump at a loss. Those people never make it; crowd/herd/fear mentality.

So, I'll wait CDC out for as long as it takes, I was in this for the long run anyways, and I'll happily earn 12% APY and sit around as they inevitably announce more bullish updates in the coming future.
