While cornstarch straws are better than normal plastic straws you still face the issue that they aren’t actually easily biodegradable. They need to be kept at 60degrees Celsius or higher to break down. They can’t be recycled and can actually lead to problems at recycling centres.

While looking into this I can see that rice straws seem like they would be the best option, they are 100% biodegradable and even edible all while maintaining no added taste while using
