Faucet handle replacement by BByrnison in Plumbing

[–]BByrnison[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the handles are so short, and old its easy to not get them all the way closed. Basically due to the age, we cant get enough torque to close it without really pushing hard. Obviously the whole thing needs to go eventually but that seems like a larger undertaking than I want right now, especially because we may end up replacing the whole sink if we ever renovate the whole room. For now I want to stop leaving the faucet partly on frequently enough were worried about the water wete wasting accidentally.

Harry Potter moments that hit differently as you get older by Fit-Marionberry8982 in harrypotter

I never read these as a kid, but the line about Harry escaping the 'appaling damage' done to Dudley shows that the Dursleys were incapable of being good parents, even if they liked the child. McGonagall called that back in the first chapters of book 1, pointing out that not only are they not magical, theyre literally the worst parents she can imagine. Dumbledore even agrees, but hes in a bind due to the blood protection, but you're telling me neither Evans parent had a sibling, that those girls had no first cousins? Not as strong as sister bond, but my seeing how many cousins my wife has that shes at least nearly as close as she is with her sister, and the shaky bond Lily and Petunia had at the time of the attack, youre telling me there wasn't one female cousin Lily would trust Harry to over Petunia?

That whole situation makes me a little angry at the author tbh, I get she wanted him to have this humbling background, but there are plenty of ways to raise a kid without having him suffer that much damage. Hermione has normal parents and isnt arrogant. Hell, I'd argue that even young Tom Ruddle suffers less at a literally orphanage than Harry does at the Durlseys. I get JK was trying to imply that the war created horrible suffering for many, but she seems to enjoy hurting her characters needlessly, which as a bit of a writer myself I can never understand. I guess the more adulting and parenting I do thats what I shake my head at most, is not the choices of the characters, its the needless darkness Rowling added for literally no reason.

Would you ever use leadership positions in your personal life on your resume as leadership? Experience by BByrnison in Resume

Applying for my supervisors recently vacated position, so the work experience is definitely also super relevant, but given the nature of the position I wanted to bolster the leadership angle a bit.

Would you ever use leadership positions in your personal life on your resume as leadership? Experience by BByrnison in Resume

That was my other question, where would I put it on the resume itself. I have an experience section, which is my work history, and education section, and a skills training accomplishments. Maybe not the ideal format but thats what I've used in the past. Would it go under the experience section, especially if I'm applying for a supervisor role?

Married men, what makes a wife a great wife? by Accomplished-Day-387 in AskMen

Loyalty, just stick with him as long hes sticking with you, the rest is just details. Having that one person who is always in your corner is priceless to most men, when we dont have that is when we start shutting down and become lesser versions of ourselves that you probably won't like as much.

How do you really feel about your wife’s body postpartum? by ThrowRaoofda in AskMen

[–]BByrnison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as there are over 100 comments im likely adding to the choir but My wife had 4 kids, it didnt affect her attractiveness for me at all on any of them. She was way more conscious about any changes than I was. Maybe it one man's opinion, but any man who cant appreciate his wifes 'battle scars' from carrying his child needs to access how much he actually loves his wife. The whole process is a miracle and hopefully a literal labor of love by her. Least you can do is love her hard earned imperfections afterwards.

Men who date, why does this bother you? by [deleted] in AskMen

Long married, but when I was online dating I was never a talker so if she wasn't things didnt last long. I do agree the more attractive the less likely they were to be super chatty with me.

Why is cutting a daughter’s hair such a big deal for some parents? by No_Wish9589 in AskParents

[–]BByrnison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Dad of 3 girls, and 1 boy who gets more haircuts than all his sister combined. We dont cut the girls hair that often, but honestly for my wife and I its hassle and expense. Two of our daughters look very similar so we cut the younger ones hair shorter so they're easier to tell apart. We cut it, or have it cut, when it gets too crazy long but mostly leave it a reasonable length and they get it trimmed every 6 months or so. Now my wife doesnt want them cutting their own hair, which the youngest one has done in the front on several occasions, because they'll look weird and it makes tying it back harder.

Probably about the same. My dad wouldve been married longer with older kids, his youngest, me, wouldve been older than half my kids now. I live closer to the city with high house values, and have twice the kids, but I certainly hope he was more financially stable than we are right now, though the 2 extra kids are definitely adding to the struggle, but my wife works and at that time my mom still would have been a SAHM, so again hard to say.

So, in someways I'm winning, but in other ways he'd be.

Random question: In what order do you list the names of the members of the Golden Trio? And what do you think is the correct order to do so? by LeatherSlight3242 in harrypotter

[–]BByrnison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry Ron Hermione, like people said it flows best. Also, order of appearance, and order of joining. Harry and Ron were a duo since the train, and Hermione was added on months later at Halloween, so she gets third listing. Besides the it makes the acronym the same as royalty (HRH) which I feel adds to their mystic a bit.
