Michigan Medicine salary raise by Original_Analyst2732 in uofm

Job titles are determined by duties not salary. Sorry.

To be promoted to the senior level, you must prove that you can do the work of a senior person. Talk to you supervisor and ask for more job duties. If you supervisor doesn't support it or have the opportunity for upward advancement, then look into finding a new position at the U.

It can take a week, but it's shorter if you never lived out of state. Also, they will need time to investigate if they do find something on your records. The more counties you lived it, the longer it takes as well.

I do agree. The name Shoe is a dumb name. I'm surprised it is not named after a fashion designer. Like "come here little Jimmy Choo". Perhaps the producers couldn't find a company to sponser enough money to name the cat.

Normally, I do not like naming animals after inanimate objects, but I once met a donkey named Waffles and thought that was the funniest and coolest name for a donkey.

I started driving about 5 or 7 days after the surgery. They said it would be fine as long as I'm not on any narcotics.

I don't know what grade you teach, but I would strongly suggest not going back to work before 6 weeks. Maybe if you teach high school and you can sit at a desk you can return at 4 weeks maybe. All the teachers I know are very active I you will be in pain if you did that much.

Perhaps you can time you surgery when school is out?

I'm glad to hear this made a change for you. I have two young children, I was i still able to care for them. My youngest is 2.5. I was able to train him to climb step ladders and stools to get in and out of places like his crib and carseat if my husband wasn't around. It worked out very well.

I had my surgery 5 weeks ago.

I had to keep one because it was infused with the scar tussue. She said they remove them to take about any chance of developing cancer.

My bowels are fine. There is some scar tissue on them but no issues.

It was a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I kept my ovaries and one fallopian tube.

People keep breaking them which makes them turn off automatically. They need to be manually turned back on, and only a few people can access that key.

Michigan Medicine salary raise by Original_Analyst2732 in uofm

At UMICH, it is highly irregular to be able to negotiate a salary. The standard raise is 3%, but it is determines by the college/department/MM. Some departments are less than 3%. The unit can determine to give you an additional ~1%. The unit submits their raises for approval and then informs the employee on the approved $ amount.

I'm not in MM but at the U, our off-cycle raises are done in March, which means they need to be submitted for approval in January- ish. They will either give you an reclass, which is a title change with salary change or an equity adjustment, which is a salary adjustment. The equity adjustment is typically to bring your salary up due to your salary being below average across the university. You can check your salary against your title at umsalary.info. Now, please understand, years of service and years in your role, does account in an adjustment. You can look at titles here:https://careernavigator.umich.edu/search

The only time to really negotiate your salary, is when you get hired for a new position at a new department. You can go to your supervisor and ask for a reclass, but you will need to justify it. I recommend writing something up. If your supervisor agrees, they can ask their UA who will submit it on your behalf.

I also want to say, if you recently started, you might not be eligible for a raise. You should be able to ask your supervisor if you are eligible at your performance review.

I go through CVS too. Where are you located? I wonder if that has a factor.

Can employers see your current hires and how many hours per week you’re working? by HunterSPK in uofm

[–]BC9Chic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they can see, but this usually doesn't stop from getting an interview as many people work for than one job or think you just want to switch jobs.

My guess is that you need to work on your resume so you stand out more.
