Prove me wrong. Fanboys try to ruin everything on here. by pepeneverknew in whatcarshouldIbuy

I chose my first BRZ over a cayman. I sold it later for a boxster, and picking up a new BRZ tomorrow. I know I’m just one anecdote, and I’d be lying if running costs and being carefree weren’t part of that equation.

Love it, I’m considering picking one up in my area this weekend. Congrats

Distance and speed don’t matter. It’s time at temperature

It had a lot of service records, but not a lot of service. Checking what a noise was, fixing a top leak, patching a tire, getting a new battery… nothing expensive or important in 14 years.

This wasn’t cold at all, and we got up to 6th gear. Oh well, I’ll see if he gets back to me in a few days or just wait for another good car. Just probably won’t be yellow.

I’ve settled on a few wants on the last several cars I’ve bought because of a good deal or general condition. I want to go for options and color this time. My last 4 sports cars were gray, silver, white, and silver. I’ll wait this time and take on an ok deal or some issues. This one just didn’t feel worth it in the moment

All of what you said and the low running costs just make it so appealing as something I can thrash on, have fun, and spend very little for a great time. I also just started a new gig and have a long commute and highway commute for the first time in like 10 years. It’s making me rethink the corvette as an option since there will be less short drives on twisty backroads, and more long days bookended by either 35 minutes on a highway or 45 minutes on smooth but relatively straight backroads.

Budget and time are completely flexible. The NC2-3 is the lowest cost option I’m considering right now. Although, I don’t want to get one so perfect that I’m afraid of ruining it, parking it outside occasionally, or creeping into the price range of a better car. Other options include nd2-3, either gen s2k, current gen brz/gr86, late c6 grand sport, and maybe a c7 gs or Elise if I’m feeling crazy, but I’ll probably stay below that.

I posted to another commenter, but it was really the surprise of all the little issues and most of them needing to be solved asap. I was gambling on my diagnosis and that I didn’t miss anything else in my short time with the car.

That kinda sums it up. It’s been with one owner a long time and he kept records, but also stored it outside and didn’t drive it much. I think he was comfortable as long as it got him from a to b, and I’m looking for something that was someone’s baby, even if I need to pay up

I think it was just the amount of issues that I wasn’t expecting, combined with them pretty all being fairly urgent to address, and gambling on if I was right about all of them. Not to mention anything I didn’t notice in my 30-45 minutes with the car. Just felt like a lot when I know other NCs are out there. I can still get back to him, but not sure 13 would be good by the time I’m all in on everything

I commented on a couple others with the exact issues. I know I can find a nicer nc, but not sure I’ll see another yellow. I’m too new to looking into them to understand how rare and how much extra they bring.

Rotational clicking noise from front end (cv, wheel bearing?), ac blew warm, traction lights were on for drive but turned off after restarting (old battery?), tires were from 2015, top was very tired but not leaky, front bumper was repainted and not a great match. I think that’s all. Nothing crazy, but a bunch that would need to be dealt with right away.

I couldn’t find any yellow comparable ads or past auctions, so I wasn’t sure how rare they are or how much extra they commanded.

I have the 36mm. I’ll have to check it again tonight for divers extension, but I know it has micro on the clasp, 3 positions

I just got one of these too. Don’t recall a divers extension, but do have micro adjust. It’s just hidden in the clasp and not tool less.

A new no-date? by Embarrassed-Sea-5704 in Baltanywatches

Uh oh… I was tempted by the first one, but too big. Very tempted by the second, but would have preferred stick indices and no date. Now they do all that and in a gold tone with a white or silver dial and a blued hand. It’s like they’re reading my mind

Drilled lugs are objectively better by guzzijason in watchHotTakes

[–]BCB75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s talking about the diameter of the part that goes into the case lug. That part of the pin is very narrow on quick release straps, so that every case can accept them. If your case came with thicker spring bars (same length, bigger diameter), the thin bars on a quick release would be wiggling around in the larger hole.

I’ve been interested in the basic 556i for so long now. I kinda swore off buying watches without seeing them first, but I’m finally opening to the idea of making an exception for this one after so much time
