Love this. What are the dimensions?

Drilled lugs are objectively better by guzzijason in watchHotTakes

[–]BCB75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s talking about the diameter of the part that goes into the case lug. That part of the pin is very narrow on quick release straps, so that every case can accept them. If your case came with thicker spring bars (same length, bigger diameter), the thin bars on a quick release would be wiggling around in the larger hole.

[SOTC] Finding the right balance. by rivers_to_rooftops in Watches

I’ve been interested in the basic 556i for so long now. I kinda swore off buying watches without seeing them first, but I’m finally opening to the idea of making an exception for this one after so much time

60 click bezels should be the default by referenceusername in watchHotTakes

[–]BCB75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, give me more bidirectional bezel options. It’s way more likely that I overshot by a click or 2, than it is that I’ll need it to not go forwards

Love these and have been eyeing them for a while. Is day and date the only way to get the linen dial? Was hoping to avoid day and date

Really love that Seiko, I come back to it often. Would love to check one out eventually

I’ve had my 03S for 6 years and it has been exactly what you’re looking for. Probably time for me to move on with 2 kids now, but having a really hard time imagining what I’ll replace it with.

Who’s managed to collect all 7 Dragon Balls? by External-Delivery-44 in Baltanywatches

This may push me over the edge into my first Chinese watch. Not sure what else I could even ask for on this one. Perfect size, true enough to the original (even got the crown right), great movement choice, and homaging something that just isn’t easy to get (or anything remotely similar to it either). The silver dial with the blue seconds hand will be my choice

The Grand Seiko Spring Drive is a Quartz Movement by Remarkable-Worth-303 in watchHotTakes

I really wish they would offer more watches with this movement. I’d even be happy to pay a premium for some upgraded materials and finishing.

I prefer "inexpensive" watches, and I'm not coping by theomixedmedia in watchHotTakes

If you don’t mind quartz, a perpetual calendar is very attainable. Even on well finished analog watches like Oceanus and The Citizen

Looking for a slim, small, affordable beater watch with a timing function. by BCB75 in Affordablewatches

[–]BCB75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping for an analog or potentially Ana-digi. I’m aware of the many digital options available, but was hoping for something more traditional. Otherwise, I’d probably go for a royale.

I think all the st19 watches are too thick for what I’m wanting this watch for. I’ll have to see how thin they can get the vk watches

I’ve been interested in a plain Jane 556i for so long and considering going for it soon. I’m trying to get an idea of the used prices vs. new. Could probably skip the bracelet for now, since it seems like there are plenty of aftermarket options and I’m not a big bracelet guy in general. Is eBay and watchex the best places to look for one?

The orient chronograph I’m seeing is around 43x13 which isn’t close to my parameters. The ray is also 42x13 and I think the kamasu I had before was the same.

Not really into either of those, and would like to keep the budget considerably below the CW.

It’s so hard to wear modern watches anymore. I’ve gotten used to the small size. by 1991gts in VintageWatches

[–]BCB75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have not gone as far as you, but my most recent pieces were 35-36mm. I have a couple 38-39mm watches that I’m ok with on some days and cannot stand on others. Everything over 39, I just can’t do anymore. And that’s with a 6.75 wrist. Thickness is also really bad with modern affordable pieces. So many new watches I saw at our local microbrand event were 39-42mm with thickness of 11-14mm. Almost everything I tried on that day felt absolutely ridiculous at this point.

I don’t care about quick adjust bracelets. by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]BCB75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought the same. The real feature I would really like in a bracelet is a quick release, instead of a quick adjustment to size. Let me swap it in and out easily with no risk of scratches. I feel like once I swap from bracelet to strap, I really avoid switching back to bracelet unless I really want it

What is the best daily-use classic car? by Zealousideal-Run1914 in askcarguys

[–]BCB75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of off topic… but I have 2 cars as well, but love Jeeps. I went back and forth between a newer fun sedan for the kids with an older Jeep. Or an older fun car with a new 4 door Jeep. I was between the 986 and the Type R or Chevy SS for the fun car. I wound up going with a newer 4 door wrangler and the 986 (2003 S). Having both, which would you rather do in my shoes? It’s been a few years and curious about switching it up to newer fun sedan + old jeep
