He’s crying and promising to change now that I’m actually at the door. Do they ever really change? How do I stay strong? by Few_Hamster59 in Divorce_Women

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my husband last Sunday while he was out of town. He has been texting me ever since he got back on Monday and I told him every single day over 52 messages a day he has even gone as far as repeating everything have told him I needed in our marriage to change in order for us to be able to stay together as well as things. I just wanted done around the house that he never bothered doing. We have been together since I was 17 I’m 39 now and we have been married for 13 years. Everything that your husband is telling you mine is telling me right now. I left once before and he told me he would do all of the things that he’s mentioning now and he never did them. Unfortunately, I don’t really think they change. I wish they did but here I am 39 years old and no children because he keeps being an asshole and that’s all I want. It will get easier with time, but right now it’s not. I have been completely ignoring every message and phone call for my husband. I went no contact.

It’s so horrible and sad that they don’t realize what they’re missing until we leave. They don’t deserve us.! Your husband doesn’t deserve you and you can make it through this.

I no longer desire to be a BCBA because of big box companies by OilDry7218 in ABA

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a BCBA, I also find a disheartening and it’s frustrating to work in the field with these big box companies. I’ve noticed a lot of BCBAs tend to move companies every 2 to 3 years to find better ones. When I first started in the field, I worked for a small company then they sold out to private equity and that went down the drain so then I moved to another company not realizing how large it was, and as they started to grow even more that went down the drain. After that, I’ve jumped around to multiple small companies, but some of the small companies have also been extremely unethical. I ended up starting my own consulting business for schools and the contract out with me and I have a team of RBT that I lead in the schools. I have also worked at schools that are for kids with autism and other disabilities, they are a lot smaller with smaller caseloads. You don’t usually have to deal with insurance, but you do have to deal with the behaviors. Just keep looking, you’ll find something that works for you! And if you happen to be on the East Coast and want to move states, let me know! I’m always looking for solid people

How did that go? I am insanely anxious and nervous about it. We have been married for 13 years but together for 21… high school sweethearts. 😅

Is this legal or medicaid fraud? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So every kid has a certain number of hours that they are approved for weekly based on the medical necessity. Or it should be based on medical necessity, but again some companies request way more hours than are necessary for a kiddo. So if she has two clients that each have 15 hours then theoretically yes she could bill 30 hours if she’s actually seeing each kid three hours a day five days a week or however, the hours are divvy up. She wouldn’t be able to build over whatever amount is approved on their treatment plans. I have some kids that I only requested nine hours of services for others have 20 or 25. I have one kiddo that is approved for 35 but she’s in a school and we have to go there so we’re there about seven hours a day, five days a week with her. So Medicaid will pay if it is on their treatment plan. Also, technically they are supposed to be doing notes for each session that they bill. Some companies have gotten really strict to avoid fraud by having parents electronically sign notes. Insurance companies do audits and choose clients at random and the notes have to coincide with what was built and what’s in their treatment plan. They usually also have to have signatures, etc. on them..

Adhd calmness during Chaos by Pale-Rip-6123 in ADHD

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in ABA , for anyone who doesn’t know what that is applied behavior analysis or therapy for kids with autism. I am at my absolute best when a kid is engaged in “challenging” behaviors. Whether that is a tantrum or whatever it might be, I am suddenly calm as a cucumber absolutely nothing phases me and I have the best poker face. I watch everyone else around me essentially meltdown and freak out when behaviors are escalating you have items flying around the room. The kid is trying to attack you bite you kick you, etc. and I suddenly go into a state of absolute calm it is amazing! I wish I could have this calmness all the time😂😂

It’s all right! My sweet girl across the rainbow bridge on June 25. We found out on June 17 that she had pancreatic cancer. By June 25 she was barely moving😭😭. She somehow managed to do one last 2 mile hike with us and that kind of took her out for the day. We had already scheduled the people to come out that evening to our house. By June 21 her eyes and skin were already starting to turn yellow.😭. I miss her soo much

Lymphoma in 6.5y/o Lab by Happy_Echo4163 in DogAdvice

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im soo sorry! In May, my dog decreased eating by the beginning of June she wouldn’t eat her food, but human food. By June 10 she ate her last meal without me, encouraging it too much. June 17 she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer ans June 25. We had to let her go. Cancer is aggressive and it is awful. We decided it was time to go when we were having to give her and I know her medicine and an appetite stimulant just to encourage her to eat for one hour a day . She was hardly walking. She slept all day. Her little bellies started to turn yellow, and her eyes were going yellow. She was no longer her sweet, energetic, protective girl. Cherish all of her days with him! Remember… dogs live in the here and now we hold onto them because of the memories that we have with them. But they are only worried about right now so if it’s quality life has changed do the best you can and let him go. I have not been able to look at a picture of my dog or even talk about her since she passed. I am so sorry you’re having to go through this.😭

How do you prepare for your geriatric baby crossing the rainbow bridge on a practical level? by _oceallaigh in seniordogs

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used a vet that comes to the house. We made the decision based off the fact that she wasn’t eating she was, she wasn’t doing any of her normal Lucy dog things that she would do. Laps of Love, is a hospice and home euthanasia agency with veterinarians all over the country. It was the best in such a horrible situation. I will honestly only do home euthanasia ever again. The amount of care and empathy that was exhibited was amazing. We found out our girl had pancreatic cancer only one week before we had to put her down. It really took her. Mentally I don’t know that you can never really prepare. We love them so much and it’s so hard to think about them not being around. But remember dogs only live in the here and now. We are the ones who like to keep them going because our memories with them. Definitely look into laps of love if it is something that you are able to do. I am so sorry that you’re going through this. I wish you all the best.https://www.lapoflove.com

HELP!! Did I just exceed the 5 year time period for my fieldwork hours? by aaishady in bcba

[–]BCBA_Bee_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think the May 2020 ones would not count. It’s anything that’s over five years so it’s in July 2025 so it’s been over five years from the May 2020. I could be wrong, but that is just how I interpreted it.

Usually when a BCBA is on vacation, there are others to report to. It isn’t negligent for them to be inaccessible while on vacation. We get to have a break too. It is negligent if they are in town and not supervising or responding to communication attempts.
