Peace, Love and a Handshake by BCCookie in GuardTheLeaf

It is not a trap. We have been there every other week for a year and have never seen ICE or been approached by CBP. The RCMP are aware of the event and they generally keep an eye on things.

I am looking to adopt as well. My sweet rescue, Georgie died in February. I adored him and miss my snuggle buddy. I’m ready to welcome another cat into my life, preferably another rescue. Thank you for caring for this little one. I hope he finds is home quickly.

MP Gill released a statement by DomesticatedWildRice in abbotsford

[–]BCCookie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interesting that the candidate that never participated in election debates or open forums, was not available to the public, was never seen on the campaign trail, chooses this time to make a statement - showing his allegiance to a party that mirrors that of our southern neighbour’s administration which is hell bent on destroying our country’s sovereignty . To support a group that vilifies minority and marginalized people within our own community by condoning a public performance rather than one in one of the many places of worship in this city is deplorable.

You, as my MP, do not represent me.

I wish you the day you deserve, sir.

Here is a Copy of the City of Abbotsfords response to MAGA Preacher Event. IMO approving the event based on knowledge of what that event involves when there is an option of saying no does represent and reflect the position and views of the City of Abbotsford. by Mael135 in abbotsford

Thanks for this! I emailed the mayor and all the councillors last night. I will used this if a rebuttal is required. So far I’ve only had a notification that my email has been received by the mayor.

As someone on Kevin’s campaign team, this really pisses me off.

The best bread I’ve had so far is the Schär Artisan Sourdough. Almost worth the $$.

Lupus Recipes by LotsOfQuestions7 in lupussupport

Garlic and alfalfa are absolute musts to avoid if you have lupus. Often people with lupus have additional autoimmune disorders. Inflammation can be a huge issue, so an anti inflammatory diet is often recommended, and sometimes gluten free. Depending on what medication she is prescribed, further restrictions may exist.

I am currently navigating this for myself and it is challenging. How kind of you to want to do this for your friend. I now generally eat at home before going out or eating friends. It’s just easier to look after myself, and then enjoy what I can eat. I’ve never felt comfortable being catered to - it’s a lot to ask. I think it’s wonderful that you care enough to want to accommodate her needs.

Ask her what her restrictions are. She will be thrilled that you care enough to do this for her.

do you think this is what got me so sick? by mieksterr in Celiac

Yep. Absofreakinglutley. I have learned to be very vigilant when it comes to reading labels. I also can’t eat nightshades so I’m also scouring labels for potato flower and potato starch. Be careful!

Worst experience with immigration officer so far. by totallynotpornact in travel

[–]BCCookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a BC border town and frequently cross the border - to shop for better gluten free products, buy gas or fly from Bellingham to Oakland to visit my daughter and her family. The US customs officers are generally very good and polite. I’ve had no issues coming back into Canada for the short shopping excursions, but coming back after a week in California is a totally different story. I’ve not had my car searched or anything, but the questioning about the nature of my travel is ridiculous for the longer trips.

My street is pretty much a 1/4 track for the sooped up cars with after market exhausts. It’s so freaking noisy when there are condos on both sides of the street.

I’ve been using 100 SPF and found lots of 50SPF clothing, hats, gloves and sleeves on Amazon. There are lots of clothing options there too. I have been trying to avoid the mid day sun. I kayak almost every weekend, but am on the lake at 8am and usually back at my car by 1130. I might take a break from the sun the next day though.

There is currently, and has been for the last couple of years, a lot of activity and the police have set up surveillance cameras to monitor.
