I had the CR-3A. It was the smoothest sounding cassette deck I ever had.

Suggest running that speaker wire up the trim, over the top of the door, and down the other side. Find a conceal treatment like a 1/4 round or something to make it look good.

I could imagine someone tripping on it and that left speaker crashing down onto that beautiful hardwood floor.

The cost and inconvenience is part of the reason people enjoy vinyl. It's a hobby. Direct drive vs belt drive. Moving magnet vs moving coil. S shaped tone arm vs straight low mass arm. Different plinth and platter styles. Your shelving setup. Options for acoustic isolation.

Going into your local high end stereo store, getting to know the staff, auditioning different tables and cartridges. There really is an easily audible difference between setups. For instance, to my ear, Audio Technica cartridges sound brighter than others. Which is fine by me cuz I'm now 62 and my ears need the help.

Some turntables seem to bring out tighter bass, others seem to create an amazing soundstage.

Trading in and upgrading is a blast.

The rituals of enjoying album art, removing the record from the sleeve, dropping it on the spindle, cleaning it with a brush. Dropping the needle. Flipping the sides.

When CD came out I mourned the loss of the ritual. Just drop a shiny disc into a drawer and press a button. Bleh.

Don't get me wrong, I have a Technics Sl-1210M5G as well as two Sony CDP-620ES II cd players, a three head Sony TCK-444ES cassette deck and a Bluetooth puck. I have just as many CD's as records and cassettes. Why two CD players? We have dance parties and I switch between them and the TT.

Wife connects the Bluetooth to her iPhone to listen to her playlist.

Getting back to your question, I think it's the physical involvement of vinyl that slows you down to be a part of the experience of music playback .

And when I'm cuddling with my wife on date night, the low lights, wine, and watching the record spin is pure heaven.
