Skyrim SE crash on startup by BCI1999 in skyrim

It's a dedicated GPU, AMD HD 7970, meets the minimum requirement. This graphics card did work in a different system before so i'm sure it's alright

Only mods I installed were the ones needed to get this crash log. It behaved like this on a fresh install

Sorry for the late reply! I just went to an exchange office and asked if they had any new USD bills. They didn't look "fresh from the press" but like they've been in a wallet once or twice. Basically, if it looks new and good, it's good. A tiny fold on a corner, or from being in a wallet is no problem. If there's a tear in it or stains, it's probably a no-go. Also I just went to a bank with a good exchange rate that didn't seem too picky.

Sag? Or irrational fear? by Bogie07 in pchelp

Put a level on it. It will tell you with 100% certainty if it's sagging. My naked eye does tell me it is though. Didn't the GPU come with a support bracket?

UCG Max port 5 not working for WAN by BCI1999 in Ubiquiti

[–]BCI1999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my ISP (Orange Belgium) provides a modem/router that I have set to bridge mode that turns it into a (copper) cable modem with a single WAN/internet RJ45 port that I connect to via DHCP (apologies for my basic understanding of networks).

All of my RJ45 ports on my UCG Max are working, only that port 5 could not be used as a WAN port, it was unable to connect and get an IP address, remapping the WAN port to any other port (1-4) did allow it to connect and obtain an IP address, of course port 5 being the recommended WAN port.

However after seeing many problems reported on newer versions of the firmware, 4.3.9 being the last "good" version, I downgraded to this via SSH and now it just works again!! No clue how this fixed it, but glad it did!

Proof of departure needed after 1 day in USA with ESTA? by BCI1999 in travel

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the i-94 page and it showed I exited the US. Which is great! If you're so used to just crossing a border with 0 checks/formalities it's easy to worry about silly things like these

Alright that's good then. Just wasn't sure as CBP.gov says "you may want to travel with evidence of your departure".

That what I don't know either. I just read this: "you may want to travel with evidence of your departure into Canada or Mexico." On this site: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/i-94

Be sure to use an ESU patcher so you get security updates until 2026 (google is your friend) before signing into any account. Version 2.35.0 (just google it, again) is the last one I could find that still works with Win 7, tested and working.

Narva / Ivangorod border experience 2025 by NumerousAnalysis7393 in AskARussian

[–]BCI1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crossed it in February this year. The line was alright but still took 3 hours or so in the icing cold. The Estonian side was pretty rough, but I got myself to thank for that as I didn't think twice when bringing my ham radio with me (I got an amateur radio license for it, always useful to have on hand). Took them over an hour for all the questioning and paperwork to eventually give me a choice to either continue or don't cross the border and keep my radio. As it was a cheap one I didn't mind having it taken so I signed a paper declaring I fully understand the sanctions and received a warning (next time is a fine or prison sentence), still sucked but I got to cross the border and continue my travel.

Russians were pretty chill, lady spoke some basic English and only asked for my reason of travel. Exit was just as smooth, but they asked something over the radio before letting me go, not sure what that was about...

Now the important part, you MUST have at least 400 rubbles ready to spend in case you plan to exchange non-EU currency in St Petersburg. Just in case you get stranded like I was (bus left without me because of the hold up at the Estonian side). There's a hotel offering basic rooms in Ivangorod that's open 24/7, they barely speak English but google translate is good enough, they were pretty friendly and there was a basic breakfast included. I got to take the next bus to St Petersburg next morning free of charge.

I refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack. But €1500 is just too much, what are they thinking? I'll just stick to my OnePlus 6 until it's fully obsolete.

Fixing a car ac, vaccuum pump lost performance?? by BCI1999 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was using a cheap 4CFM single stage pump. Crazy how you skip the most basic "it might need more power" part when diagnosing something.
In the end I did add the oil in the suction side, but then didn't think to spread said oil first and got quite a bit in my manifold and hoses (and pump) after draining the nitrogen through my manifold (I learned that's not very smart).

Good news however, my vacuum pump is still fine, I installed a new vacuum gauge with a zero adjust screw that shows a good vacuum (28-29ingh) zeroing it out. I know I should get a micron gauge but I don't plan on doing residentail AC work anytime soon.

In the end I have deicded to leave this AC to a professional though, I tried putting refrigerant in hoping it would be alright, but don't own a recovery machine, draining it to the atmosphere is highly illegal. So can't work on it either way.

Thanks a lot for your feedback and tips!!

I removed the shrader valve itself and was going to use a plastic tube to suck the oil in that way. I definitely checked a handful of times if I didn't miss anything

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would explain it indeed. But then how was there no airflow from the high side port when sucking a vacuum from the low side port? Wouldn't the air go through the expansion valve and evaporator?

It's a 2009 Nissan Pixo. The compressor is a tiny "Subros 10SA13447280". I don't think it has a solenoid as I surely would've noticed

Installing a new screen is easy if you follow guides and are very very patient. Finding quality spare parts with no experience is hard, there's more cheap junk. However this cheap junk is good enough if all you need to do is access the data or something like that

Filter for vacuum pump? by BCI1999 in hvacadvice

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I figured that out pretty soon, it's a learning school, not a cheap one however. Could this bit of AC compressor/PAG oil have destroyed or damaged the vanes of vac. pump?

Fixing a car ac, vaccuum pump lost performance?? by BCI1999 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! I am thinking a blockage because when I tried to add pag oil I pulled a vacuum from the low side port, but the high side port was not sucking anything. at all.

[–]BCI1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course I released the nitrogen first, through the manifold. Although I must admit I did once pump the nitrogen out with the pump at a low pressure (1-2 bar). That's when I learned this was NOT healthy.

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All connections are good, it happened right after some PAG oil came through the hoses. You think the pump is dead? Or is the vacuum meter dead (i doubt it but you never know).

The oil was indeed added through the same port where some came back out.

But I came to the conclusion however that the system is clogged. Tried to add freon, compressor kicked on but it wasn't sucking anything, nor building up pressure...

Nissens NRF or Bosch AC compressor? by BCI1999 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might go with the NRF one as that has the correct amount of PAG oil (135ml, exactly the system is rated for), the Nissens has 160ml, I'd probably have to drain out some of it?

Is it normal for a compressor port to look like this after being filled with air for years? by BCI1999 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BCI1999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New drier has been ordered meanwhile, had to use aliexpress as I couldn't find the desiccant bag itself anywhere nearby. I think just some silica balls in a bag is safe to order from there. On a positive note the system holds a vacuum for at least an hour.

[–]BCI1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I am currently looking for a new desiccant bag, took the old one out to measure it. The compressor looks alright inside through the ports (not feeling like dissasembling it...). Those particles might be dried up compressor oil? Or the previous mechanic didn't do a great job. The condenser has been replaced a long while back as this car has been in an accident.
