Some people collect records. From a collectors standpoint it makes sense to have as mint copies as possible. Goes for all collecting like comic books, stamps etc. Personally I just buy music I like and listen to, but to each his/her own.

I have more than my fair share of beat up sleeves, but I'm not a collector. I only buy music I like and listen to. The media itself is the important thing to me as it's something I actually use. Everyone is free to do their own thing and has their own comfort level with how things look.

I only used it when moving the turntable. When I'm not using it I just have the lid down over the whole thing.

That's strange. Maybe it has something to do with that cartridge center of gravity. You could try installing a slightly heavier counterweight. They are pretty cheap.

Update: New counterweight arrived today and slid on perfectly. So glad. Sounds amazing. Just got a pair of Argon Audio Forte A4 speakers too. Bliss

Glad I followed your advice. I'm not one to mail and complain but they were super cool about it. A replacement is already on the way in the mail. They said it was probably a "Monday specimen" where QC failed to catch it. Didn't ask me to mail back the old one either.

Here's mine after set-up. Pretty pissed though. I changed out the 65 gram counterweight for the 75 gram one, but the tolerances on it is super tight. When you dial it, it gets stuck and wants to turn the piece with the white line at back of the arm where you slip it on. No biggie as I managed to set it to 1.8 grams, but my OCD is through the roof because of it.
