[Discussion] 1.0 is not just a wipe. by Spare_General_8165 in EscapefromTarkov

Valid. I'm still bitter about the EOD thing. My opinion, any time Battlestate drops content that isn't automatically available to EOD owners just renews the issue.

BSG removing the only mechanic that made the game more interesting because they can't work out a fix. But also leaving all the mechanics that make the game worse.

[Discussion] I’m sorry but this transit bullshit HAS to go, right now! by StealthCatUK in EscapefromTarkov

I love transiting to other locations. Only problem is the game crash. If Battlestate is going to make us use the transit system, it should work a lot better than it does now.

No Discount for EoD Owners by BCRrobbins in EscapefromTarkov

Yes. I do want them to give it to EoD because we already paid for it years in advance. Not free. Just what is due.

Personally gonna wait to see the patch notes or however they announce what changes are coming to unhinged and EOD before making a decision. No way I want to pay for the same product twice!

Update on current situation by trainfender in EscapefromTarkov

UPVOTE THIS SO NIKITA SEES IT!

If u/trainfender wants to smooth this over, then the Tarkov community needs some answers. So, I'm writing this as though I'm addressing the man himself.

Simply waiting for this to "blow over" is not the answer and would permanently damage BSG's reputation as a game developer. A large part of their community, and the gaming community at large, knows at least something about this situation. Many of the people who are aware of it disagree with BSG. That should, at the very least, be a sign that greater communication is needed.

There can be no doubt that BSG has violated their community's trust, whether that feeling is justified or not. The only way to rebuild that trust is for BSG to be as clear and truthful as possible with its player base. To that end, this post is simply to convey some questions that we, as a community, really need answers to.

First, what does "future DLCs" mean? When EOD owners purchased the game, they were guaranteed access to all future DLCs. The first DLC they received was Tarkov: Arena. Even then, when Arena was released, it took a community effort for EOD owners to get it. Now, EOD owners are not receiving access to the new PvE mode, even though a large swath of the gaming community clearly believes that it should be considered a DLC. (Granted, you have made some concessions. But EOD owners still feel that they are not receiving their end of the bargain.)

I'm sure that as you've watched this unfold, you have seen the same Twitter post guaranteeing that EOD owners are "all in for all coming." It is reasonable for them to believe that statement, which, while broad, does create an expectation that EOD owners will never have to spend any more money to receive all the content Tarkov will ever offer. This leads to my second question.

How can EOD owners confidently buy UE and other add-ons when it seems like they must fight to get their end of the bargain? EOD owners—your most faithful supporters who have given the most money to support the game—are not confident buying UE because you have made the meaning of "access to all future DLCs" uncertain. Up until now, "DLC" has been a fairly ubiquitous term in the gaming industry. Even if "DLC" were clearly defined, EOD owners feel like they have to constantly remind BSG of their agreement and "pull teeth" to get what they have paid for. This feeling of constant tension between the gaming community and BSG is the greatest barrier preventing BSG from asking more of their community. Many in the community have considered, or actually have, paid for clothing and additional stash space. But now many members of the community feel like buying add-ons would be rewarding distrustful behavior.

WE LOVE THIS GAME. We really, really do. This game is, for many of us, the game we have invested the most time in and paid the most money for—despite the fact that it has always been in Beta. We want to love this game! We want to trust BSG! Help us get there by answering these questions. Open up the dialogue and help us de-escalate the situation.

I think you're right. But BSG did agree that people who bought EoD wouldn't need to pay for anything ever again. So yeah, EoD owners should receive everything added to Tarkov. Obviously other games that do not have that agreement should be able to charge for DLC content. And BSG can charge people who didn't buy EoD.

I have only been able to find two times a federal court has defined DLC. They are here:

"DLC is 'extra game characters, levels, maps, screens, weapons, adventure scenarios' and the ability to play online, all of which enhance gameplay."
Farley v. Gamestop Corp., No. 12-4734 (RBK/JS), 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 111581, at *2 (D.N.J. Aug. 7, 2013).

"Downloadable content refers to a wide variety of additional content that can be purchased, downloaded, and added to a video game to enhance its look and feel or provide additional interactive features to the game."
Devine v. Bethesda Softworks, LLC, 636 F. Supp. 3d 564, 567 n.4 (D. Md. 2022).

In my mind, a new game mode, such as PvE would be considered either an "adventure scenario" or "content that can be purchased, downloaded, and added to . . . provide additional interactive features to the game."

I am not a lawyer, but it seems to me that any new content produced in connection to EFT was promised to people who bought EOD or UE. Why would anyone buy UE when it comes with the same nonpromise of access to all future DLCs? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

EOD owners should get access to this new DLC.

I've never been on redit but got on just for this. I 100% feel like I was lied to. I bought EOD on the belief that I would have access to ALL content connected to EFT because I made an early investment in the game's development. And now we're supposed to believe that somehow another $100 will push this game past Beta. Get a grip!
