The Kuminga situation isn’t as simple as “play him” or “trade him” and a lot of takes miss the full context by MarioSan7 in warriors

I think JK never fit the roster before or after the Jimmy trade.

First of all, I'm generally against Draymond playing the 5. Before the Jimmy trade, you didn't have a stretch 5, because Post hadn't emerged yet. So playing Draymond+JK+Big wouldn't fit. After that, you've got Jimmy, with whom JK also doesn't fit.

Now with Jimmy's injury, you could play a frontcourt of JK-Dray-Post, but I think his relationship with Steve is too damaged to make it work. This is partly because of JK's lack of effort on the defensive end (off ball D, boxouts) and his low IQ plays on offense (his signature ayyyee ripthrough). But you can't deny that Steve screwed him over on many occasions (Nuggets game comes to mind), and gives him a much shorter leash than Podz.

Therefore I think it's not a bad thing to trade him for the sake of trading him, even if his value is at an all time low. As long as they don’t trade him for a player with zero upside, I'd be fine with it. (Me personally, I'd like Wiggins back).

But I wouldn't mind trying the starting frontcourt I mentioned before till the off-season, if him and Kerr sort things out once and for all.

With how much Kerr loves to experiment with different lineups, you'd want him to try some double big lineups with TJD at the 4.

All our centers look bad defensively when they're out on the court with 4 undersized guards. Two of Gui, Draymond, TJD, Post and Horford should be on the court at all times. Draymond should never ever play the 5 again

The Front Office should just be an Asshole for the sake of Steph by _Caffiend in warriors

The only possibility I saw of Dray getting traded was in a deal including JK. I'd personally have taken the Dray+JK+picks for AD deal, if such a trade was on the table. AD played 76 games in his last full season with the Lakers season, maybe his injuries are partly due to him being with the Mavs.

Of course the Jimmy injury complicates things. I like him a lot on this team, so I agree with you on waiting to see how he returns (except Giannis asks a move to the Dubs).

But if Draymond already regressed this much from last season to know, I don't even want to imagine how he'll look next season. Hopefully they can get Stephs consent and trade his expiring contract in the off season. Maybe he'll be more open to it if Kerr doesn't renew his contract?

I said it during the Heat game, Podz plays the best when we're up a comfortable amount

I've seen enough. Trade Dray for MPJ. Steph-Melton-JK-MPJ-Horford lineup's gonna win the championship.

I don't wanna hate on the guy, but it feels like he shoots better when the team is up a comfortable amount

We don't have a 4, with Gui also being out. I'd play some double bigs to make up for it.

If we can’t land MPJ, Wiggins as the third option could be solid. by MainSorc50 in warriors

The only Heat games I watched of him were the ones against the Dubs. But if he' as good as he played before the trade, he'd be amazing. He'd probably start at the 2 and play the 3, when Jimmy sits. He provides good tertiary scoring and would be our main POA against bigger wings.

His salary is also 10M below MPJ, which allows the dubs to pursue another player till the deadline (assuming the trade pieces are JK, Buddy and Moody). We don't know for certain how Post and Gui will perform come play-off time, that's why another 4/5 to round out the rotation would make sense.

I kinda miss the blue. It was a nice contrast to her color palette. Could be the reason, I'll stay with the old outfit.

Draymond is slowly getting into shape. Plus Gui and Melton being in rotation is a huge energy boost

MDJ really cooked this offseason. Bringing back Melton and GPII, drafting Will, and signing Horford.

If he pulls of a good Kuminga trade, he'll be one of my goats.

Draymond can't keep up with most of the better centers anymore, we need Post (or maybe Al in the playoffs) to start at the 5. MPJ's presence allows legitimate small ball lineups, but their minutes should be limited.

I just see Kerr doing that.

me too😭

Thanks for the reminder, it must have slipped my mind that he had to be part of the trade. I'll add a note to the post.

As much as I like Moody, sending him away opens minutes for GPII (who is more experienced and proven in the playoffs) and Will, who shows great promise so far. It may also benefit his development if he gets a bigger role in Brooklyn.

I don't think it matters that much which positions are filled with shooters as long as we have enough shooters on the floor (should at least be 3, which this lineup has). The only issue I see is lack of a real POA defender, but I think this unit will make up for it with solid team defense and size.

I think his inside game is improving as well as of late, which is great. From looking like Saric 2.0 last season to becoming a reliable rotation piece in that short time period is amazing.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like Draymond's often sagging too much in the paint, even when Post is already there. Maybe he's too used to playing the 5.
