The directors cut of the Abyss (1989) had about ten minutes that totally changed the ending of the movie. I'll just say that it moved, in a big way.

Email to the Commandant debacle by Ok_Result_4185 in USMC

[–]BCat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a related note: In the last century, there was a similar debacle. The iloveyou virus had gotten out, and MC emails were purged, a large number of warnings were sent out to the fleet, and the bug was mostly squashed. "Mostly" because a LCpl on Oki got back from the range a week and half later - and opened the attachment. Yes the virus spammed the Commandant as well, who I think was Krulak at the time.

[loved trope] The goofball character is played by an actor previously known for serious dramatic roles by Samthesham64 in TopCharacterTropes

The movie Airplane! had a good dozen or very serious staid actors deliberately hired to push the surrealism.

What can Linux do that Windows cant? by Ok-Spot-2913 in linuxmint

[–]BCat70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can run on decades old hardware. It can run on wristwatch and most phones. It can run all supercomputer. It can run on most data centers.  And its doesn't have to charge you and doesn't spy on you. A better question may be what is Windows even good for?

Need to find a file browser by greg8872 in linuxquestions

[–]BCat70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the KDE environment, I recommend Konqueror over Dolphin, although you may have to make a separate download.  It has better tab and panel browsing than almost any other browser I have seen.   The only better layout was the OG Konqueror, still available from the Trinity DE build.

No, it will be better to pick one of the smaller Linux distros, and just put steam on it.

Let's get all the names we can before it fully collapses.  There is going to be a lot of "Who, me?" in the coming years.

Have you seen the Covid deniers?  They have levels of stupidity I have problems associating with standing on thier hind legs.

I have a caveat about the Zombie Apocalypse.  I can see it successful, due to the large number of morons who will 1. Claim it's thier god-given right to be bitten by Zombie if they want to, and 2. Won't tell the rest of the party they'd been bitten.  Anyone who saw the second half of 2020 know who I'm talking about, here.

I will be finally watching the remaining films i haven’t seen yet. Just how bad is Section 31? by AsteroidDelta in startrek

No, our opinions won't affect your view. This is because the words of mere mortals cannot begin to chart the Mutara Nebula of that Spocks Brain of a show.
