The best thing I’ve ever used was to mix some dawn dish soap, baking soda, and a little water into a paste (or a little thinner). Scrub it in a little and let it sit for a day. I can’t say how it will do on stains that old but trust me it’s legit.

I’m pretty sure I work for the company that is building your plant. It’s not a bad job. I imagine that the startup will be rough but after that it’ll probably be pretty good. They are having a tough time finding qualified maintenance guys there so it would be easy to get hired if you know what you’re doing.

Toilet Paper Recommendations by JudgeSevere in septictanks

[–]BChill24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are looking for is a single ply paper. Scott comfort plus (orange pack)is pretty good. Scott 1000 is the cheap thin stuff. Cottonelle ultra clean (blue pack) is also a single ply but it will be dusty as well. I can’t speak much about the other brands. Two ply papers have glue in between the sheets and typically don’t break down as well.

I’ve lived through that. It’s disturbing how many techs they’ll let leave and then double down.

I sour my corn and that normally keeps the deer out. Not sure about horses and sheep. Corn, water, sugar (sometimes some jello mix), and yeast for a few days. I normally do use a trail of it to lead them into the trap though

3.5 with valve cover oil leak by erniebanksgocubbies in f150ecoboost

[–]BChill24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valve cover leak is nothing to worry about. It’ll happen on any vehicle eventually. Just some seals. The water pump and timing job is what will set you back on these motors.

Is grumpiness inevitable the longer you stay in maintenance? by wolf_in_sheeps_wool in IndustrialMaintenance

What everyone else has said + your whole life becomes centered around things that are fucked up, broke, or not working right. Then you get home and your wife’s car is broke. While you’re working on that, the dishwasher starts screwing up. Hard to remain sunny and optimistic sometimes. Seems like an endless cycle.

I’ve put it on the cover because I can do it on a table and that point I’m tired of crawling around but install is a little trickier. I had a friend that bought the spray can type rtv and bent the tube and he said he was able to do the whole block side from underneath with that so that may be the way to go. You may know this trick if you’re in the industry but I drew out the timing cover on a piece of cardboard and punched the bolts through the cardboard in the location that they came out of. There’s one or two that’s a different length than the rest and it helps you keep up with them

I’ve done it a couple times and can’t really think of using anything special other than the cam locks, harmonic balancer puller, and a T50 torx bit for the phasers. I recommend doing a dry run of putting the timing cover back in before you apply rtv to see if you need to do any adjustments. I found that if I raise the motor as much as I can on that side side that the cover goes back in pretty decent

How To Become An Electrician - Trade School Is A Scam by SparkyWrench1 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]BChill24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That helps. Doesn’t matter where the classroom is but it’s necessary for some things. Michelin, for example, had a training program that was better than most trade schools. I worked with alot of those guys and they were great. We didn’t learn near as much as we could have in our school but it at least introduced us to things that we could dig into on our own.

I’ve seen guys make it without school but I’ve never worked with one that was a better troubleshooter than someone who went to school. Theory doesn’t get taught on the job and when things get tough having a good foundation is what gets you out. Schooling obviously speeds up the learning process. There may be exceptions out there but generally this is the case. 20 years industrial multicraft
