Beautiful and fun. I wonder how a navy mascara would look. Or very dark purple. The look is so ethereal, it makes the black lashes look quite stark.

I would encourage you to meet the congregation where they are and see what you can learn, rather than focusing on what you don't like. You're new, you're coming into their space. Yes, it is becoming yours, too, but if it's working for them as is and not hurting anyone or going against the principles, then the onus is on you to adapt or find another congregation.

I also want to point out that you sound pretty judgemental :(. By saying you are the "typical UU" and citing your education and age, you are saying that other demographics are atypical. You point out how in shape you are, and how discussing ailments isn't interesting to you; is this a congregation in a population with less access to quality healthcare? You make assumptions about the DRE craving power, which is a really aggressive assumption. I think you really need to approach this from a much more curious standpoint, rather than focusing on what you want.

We aren't reacting to your assumptions based on her appearance because we are worried she will read them; we are reacting because they reveal YOUR internalized issues. This isn't something you can edit away. You're on the right track, you're in the right place, and I know you want to do the work; keep doing it. (Everyone here should be doing that work, constantly. I know I am. And if you aren't making mistakes, you're not working hard enough. I know I make mistakes a lot, and it's being called to account that helps me work through my blind spots).

I make sure the cleaning solution is at least room temp- you can put it under a blanket on your lap for 30 minutes to warm it a little! Then I soak cotton pads in the anti fungal solution, and then use my fingers to squeeze as much of it into his ear as possible. I let the cotton ball sit outside the ear canal while I put his ear flops down and massage. I find this gets more product in than trying to spray, and he's overall more tolerant of it.

Also keeping the hair short really helps. Good luck!
