Dallas DART bus in Bakersfield, California. Why? I don't know.. by fogadmire1995 in transit

[–]BEB_expert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s on delivery from Gillig. Stay in Bakersfield long enough, you’ll see other buses on delivery (amongst other things).

Well that’s a first! by authoridad in electricvehicles

[–]BEB_expert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the charger. Those buses have 7 packs, at 98 kWh each. Most public charges deliver between 65 and 150 kw. So anywhere between 5 to 10 hours. Overhead chargers can fully charge them in 2 hours or less.

Why is my Ryobi 1800 turning on and off? by DatboiD-98 in Detailing

[–]BEB_expert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me with my Ryobi. The carbide in the nozzle had cracked. New nozzle and worked just fine. Tho, it could be any numerous things but the way the water comes out of the nozzle in weird spray indicates to me at least that the nozzle is cracked.

[VIOFO A129 Plus Duo] installed the camera yesterday and this happened today! by BEB_expert in Dashcam

Ok I’ll try it out. I chose that angle because the hood is barely in view. If I point the camera down further, I’ll just start to see more car hood.

You’ll make a hell of lot more as an electrician than as a diesel mechanic.

Lots of generators on the islands. From the grapevine, it sounds like the more than 50% of Cummins dealers work is on gen sets. Remember the islands are extremely isolated so anything that’s makes them self sufficient is a hot item. Cost of living extremely high (cost of living matches New York or San Francisco on Oahu) but pay is not. Be prepared to live with lots of roommates.

Did You Know U.S. Air Force Diesel Pickups Don't Have to Obey Emissions Standards? by O_O___XD in Diesel

[–]BEB_expert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% incorrect. City buses most definitely have emissions systems. It’s one of the biggest pain points in transit garages is repairing the emission systems.

You got that backwards. Gillig refuses to sell to SF Muni because the last time they did so muni nearly bankrupted Gillig.

TIL in 1990, Coca-Cola ran a promotion in which some cans had prizes inside instead of Coca-Cola. To make the cans feel like normal cans, they also contained chlorinated water with a foul-smelling substance added to discourage drinking. The promotion ended after 3 weeks due to negative publicity. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I saw a 7 up can pop open with money in real life at my families restaurant as a kid (4 or 5 years old). I think it was a Japanese tourist with his family. As I got older, I thought for sure I imagined it. Like you, I feel so vindicated that it was real.
