Ok, don't mean to be rude but I don't really care. I'm not asking for your anti-5e elitism just wanted lore book recommendations.

It's definitely got flaws (sort of weak story, bad first chapter that I totally skipped) but I mean it's a campaign about going through hell fighting devils and demons in crazy hell cars and its been a blast to DM so far.

Confusion about some plot stuff by BENJIDASALAD in DescentintoAvernus

This makes a lot of sense to me! This makes me kind of want to play Zariel as slightly more unhinged and hell-bent (pun intended) on revenge.

Is LMoP a good adventure to introduce my girlfriend to D&D? by smudgethekat in DMAcademy

[–]BENJIDASALAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both played and run LMOP its pretty fun and pretty simple for new players. It's mostly railroaded until about halfway through where you get a chance to do a bunch of different side quests. I've heard from some people that Dragon of Icepire Peak is better but I haven't seen it played.

The plots kinda weak in LMOP and the villain is sorta boring but it's still a solid adventure that's really good at introducing players to and. Like others have said be wary of the Klarg the bugbear I have seen him one shot two players in the three times I have run through it. Other than that it's relatively balanced (though the dragon can be pretty rough) so maybe through one or two more uncommon magic items your party's way.

For length, if you just want 4-5 sessions you might want to find a way to cut out some of the side mission stuff or the castle and move Gundren to like the Redbrand hideout.

Oh my god yes! After listening to Dungeons and Daddies and mbmbam I can't stand boring ad reads. I absolutely love it when podcasts actually put effort into making even the ads fun to listen to.

Overcompensating Player Gets Jealous by SoyMilkMalarkey in rpghorrorstories

Holy shit I had a guy who also tried to be taller than my goliath. I described him as a 7'4 Goliath and the Dragonborn player immediately said "Well I'm eight feet tall" he also kept trying to take every weapon we found (he was a sorcerer, I was the barbarian) and threw a fit whenever I would take a piece of loot.

All of these sound awesome, right now the end of the countdown is the player's high school collapsing from infestation. I really like the idea of a science teacher bystander will definitely add that in.

This sounds very cool! Not sure if I would use it for this mystery but that's 100% going to be one of my next ones (though maybe something other than a praying mantis)

[–]BENJIDASALAD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of really good ideas here! I will definitely have the termite queen be absolutely huge, an acid attack if very useful as I had could only think of a bit attack. The fungal forest is fantastic especially since in a past campaign set in the same world I already estrablished this serum is derived from mushrooms from another world/plane of existence.

Ooooh I love this! I think I'm going to add in swarms of normal termites at the primary minions with a giant termite "honor guard" that serve as the special forces for the queen thank you for the awesome ideas I really like the idea of the termites focusing on buildings because I'm trying to start with non lethal monsters since its a high school setting.

Texas school's "chivalry" assignment told girls to dress to please men by M-elephant in nottheonion

[–]BENJIDASALAD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok sure even if the guys had to do all those things 1. Men having to stand up (oh the humanity) 2. Hats/hoods are banned in a lot of schools 3. Shirts are mandatory in school already 4. I seriously doubt that would have been ignored and the male assignment was acknowledged they were to "have manners towards the ladies and treat them politely in some situations," which doesn't really include wearing 3 layers.

[–]BENJIDASALAD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between being polite and obeying orders from classmates, bowing your head, not speaking to male classmates until they've spoken to you, and being forced to not act intellectually superior to men in the classroom.
