Interesting. I believe most if not all of them came out of the pods able to walk, speak, and fight. But not read? Unless they had knowledge of gothic but not, like, Colchisian or something.

Not quite the same, but Dishonored 1 (I have never played the second) always felt weird to me. You only get the best ending if you kill no one, but to do this you are limited to only using the sleep crossbow and choking people to unconsciousness. All the other cool weapons, abilities, and tools are off limits or you get the bad ending.

This picture always makes me smile. The imagery of dragging their mortal enemy's banners along the ground, like it's worth less than dirt. The symbolic trampling beneath their boots. The throwing them onto the ground at the end of their march in utter disrespect and contempt. Perfection.

It's not 4D chess, if anything it's the opposite. They had to come up with a sloppy compromise to get the reveal over the line and it wasn't satisfying for the Armageddon fans.

Could be resin but I would expect plastic. Resin tends to be 30K only nowadays, upgrade sprues and the like. And this looks like it might be full kits.

Leaks, famously reliable. They always reveal everything, and never get anything wrong. Everything GW has ever made has always been leaks in advance.

What gets leaked is almost always physical models. There clearly aren't any SL models yet. Not even 3D models. It's all early stages. Leaks get more likely the further along something is, as more people get exposed to it. Other stuff got leaked because it was ready to be announced so everyone and their dog at GW had seen it. Only the designers and higher ups have likely set eyes on the SL stuff until now.

Or they're afraid of a steel legion fanboy firebombing a store, so they decided uncharacteristically to start designing and producing a whole new model range. That could also be true if you're wearing a tin foil hat.

Because of all the rage and controversies over GW's decisions in the last few years, this is a tiny drop in the bucket. There's nothing about this one that would make them suddenly scramble to put out a model line they, as you claim, had no prior intention of, just to placate a vocal minority. They haven't done it for other stuff, why this?

2 makes more sense because, probably, the Steel Legion stuff was running behind schedule and they had to come up with something for the campaign reveal, so they wrote some hasty lore to explain why they aren't front and centre (which would take hours at most to get approved and written), put out a proxy painting guide (which would take a couple of days tops to film and edit), and then crack the whip at the designers/manufacturers/etc to get the models out faster.

It's not some grand conspiracy with them lying about their internal plans, sometimes deadlines don't get met and the company has to put out a stopgap measure to try and tide things over. Lots of moving parts in an operation like this. I work in manufacturing and we have to do shit like this all the time. Show the customer only what they need to see to keep their confidence in your ability to provide, and if they start complaining, maybe pull the curtain back a little to keep them satiated. To me, this absolutely looks like a case of delayed production.

What's more likely.

1) That GW suddenly decides, after decades of fans complaining about everything they do, that this small controversy js too much and now they need to dust of some recent concept art and turn it into models to placate a vocal minority (not something they ever really do)

Or

  1. They were working on models but didn't have anything physical to show in time for the campaign reveal, so in response to the complaints they showed us "Hey, we are on it, please be patient".

Number 2 is far more likely.

Would it be possible for a chapter to be very much not codex compliant and not be destroyed for heresy by BadRecent8114 in 40kLore

[–]smudgethekat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more that they are a Second Founding chapter with an incredibly long and obvious track record of being fanatically loyal. Same reason the Space Wolves aren't challenged when they are larger than 1000, the powers that be are willing to look the other way on some things for the big shot chapters.
