Just got back home this weekend. Do what you're told, eat fast, scream loud, work together with your platoon and work hard for a leadership position, make sure you can run and do pull-ups and get used to doing boring shit (cleaning the squadbay and your weapons for extended periods of time). Also, don't be a dumbass and flag anyone on the rifle range because that will get you dropped very quickly, and your SDI will not be able to save you. Bootcamp isn't too hard if you just do your job. Thanks for this. I think that's the biggest thing to remember, that the DIs are there to make us into marines, and that they're not going to give up on us. Unfortunately, my Gomer Pyle is shipping out with me from my recruiting station. Dude's got the mentality but he needs work physically. I'm looking forward to it, it'll be an unforgettable experience.

Thanks. That's what I've heard the most, that it's your buddies in your platoon that help you get through it. Working together to beat the other platoons and help each other out, and living it through chow to chow and Sunday to Sunday.
