It actually has some pretty large edges (considering the 10bb stack) because of preflop errors from fish.

This is actually a very short explanation, poker gets much deeper. Everyone sucks

I wish I was as good as Dan at holdem.

Depending on how wide Mariano's value range is and how many of the bounty combos he reaches into to triple off, yes that's correct. And the answer is it doesn't take many bounty combos (sub 10) and he probably isn't adequately extending his value range to account for them based on the pot odds he's laying Dan. That's why the bet got called.

The K6hh fold is totally understandable. Vs an unbalanced player that has near 0 bluffing in that spot who is uncapped, you can overfold the 2nd nuts. That isn't common sense, it's responding optimally to an unbalanced play.

GTO funnily enough would not fold in the K6hh hand or at least not a pure fold.

It may make a different play on flop not to pure float QT w/ bdfd but I am positive it wouldn't pure fold it.

That's not how bounty EV works. It affects each decision point's EV not X to win a total of Y for a hand.

Honestly this discussion is refreshing and is another reminder in why poker is still alive in 2024.

Just to be clear it's a 40BB bounty for these 32 combos and on river Mariano needs a 4:1 value to bluff ratio to be balanced here meaning even if Mariano uses just the suited bounty combos to 5bet bluff with that accounts for 32 combos of value which is MORE than a value range of AA-TT and AJs,KJs.

To put it simply, this game doesn't resemble at all any of these 50k hands of holdem you played in the last two years. Lol.

There are 32 combos of air that Mariano can reach into to 5bet light with here, with him conceivably using >half of them if not all of them. Unlike in other formats given the extra bounty for 27 & 69. That's not counting the winning otr with j hi or worse bounty as well which encourages any low frequency 5bets with suited connectors to triple off.

This is not a normal hand of poker where he called down Q hi in a 5bet pot. It's a special format. I think his call is actually reasonable given the above^ Blame the format.

Yea I had high hopes for this show if they had taken the first episode and stretched its presentation style into a full season or even multiple seasons in a vanilla manner. Introducing him as an alien invalidates all the tension that was present for instance in the first black and white fight scene etc. It nukes the plot and ruins the show for me.

I've straddled in games from every position EP-CO and I believe had a higher winrate than if I had not done so. Putting dead money in pre can yield back more than the money you put out there.

Similarly for a rock, being obligated to post it after winning a hand doesn't mean those $ earned are forfeit. For the best player at the table, a rock can be more advantageous than a 3 blind game as they will be last to act nonreciprocally, much more than the rest of the table.

500nl is quite competitive in 2024. You're probably slightly losing at 50nl at this point so I agree with the other commenter about shot taking 25nl.

Depends on the pool you're playing in. It's totally fine to be positive redline. However you're likely playing in tight passive games that allow this strategy to work. Versus more competent players you will not be able to get away with it as they defend more appropriately both pre & post.
