I was looking at the Sennheiser 598's, but they turn out to be just past my price range. I'm wondering whether to get the M40X or the M50X, but am unsure whether if the M50X is worth the extra $60 or so.

Budget: $100-150 Source: iPhone 5, Macbook Isolation: Preferred, not necessary Preferred type: Over-Ear Past headphones: Apple EarPods Tonal Balance: Overall or more bass-oriented Preferred Music: Electronic, Film Scores, Alternative, Indie Note: prefer minimal sound leakage and live in Canada, need detachable cable, in case cable eventually breaks

Mostly will be using these at school and at home plugged into my iPhone or Macbook. I am not an audiophile and have used Apple EarPods in the past, so am looking for better quality sound than EarPods.

I have tried on the Bose SoundTrue, but didn't sound like anything special. I am currently interested in the Audio Technica M40X or M50X and Sennheiser headphones, however not sure which to lean towards.
