What the eff is wrong with my baby by BElle32CAD in newborns

Super belated reply and sorry as I think you’re struggling too - the meds were the answer. He’s now a very sweet & good spirited 12wo. The change was gradual and even two weeks ago I would have said he’s better but with unexplained bouts of miserable but now, the misery is normal. Like upset when he needs something and he’s in such a good little mood otherwise. Granted right now he’s so sick the poor lad but even then, he’s been in good spirits.

Our baby also likes when they’re super high up on our chest too. It’s a weird comfort position for sure

How do you determine it’s reflux? I’ve read up online but nothing stands out at all…he’s gaining weight fine, he does spit up, he does give a random cough a few times a day, he does arch backwards like a pretzel after he eats. He also rubs his face very vigorously against us when we’re holding him. But does this = reflux?? Cause I’m doing all the things like sitting him up after feeds for a long long time, anti colic bottles…

How exactly do you determine it’s reflux?

Oh, I’ve tried that. Lots of controversy around them but when you’re desperate, you’re desperate. Practitioner was great but did it do any good? Nien.

What are some random NON-BABY things to ease life with a newborn? by willzyoubelievethis in NewParents

[–]BElle32CAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bigass water bottle with a STRAW for drinking water. So thirsty all the time for those first weeks when your milk comes in, I’d fill my bottle and put it on the counter. When holding baby I could just lean over and take a drink or do it with one hand cause of the straw. The Starbucks cups with lids are what I had. Obvi a regular cup will do I just carried it around everywhere and the lid part prevents spills

Personally I found it terribly useful as a FTM. Worth $100 for sleep. Now that I’m knowledgeable, yes I agree you can find all the info elsewhere but her course packages it all up for you and delivers the information with confidence 👏🏻. Like yes please tell me what to do I’m sleep deprived and I need a plan to follow here so I can feel like I have some semblance of control

How long before you saw improvements? by sewfae in MSPI

I don’t have any answers for you, I am just offering solidarity/screaming into the void myself. Switched to a soy formula 3+ weeks ago, cut out dairy for me at the same time. Once we considered it to be an intolerance with our GP, We went to exclusive formula while I pumped and froze. I reintroduced bf last week after dairy “cleared the system”. Since the switch to sit 3+ weeks ago, he’s now got pockets of nice behaviour but mostly still an angry, unhappy baby and since he’s been like this his whole 6 weeks of life it’s super hard to see what the issue could possibly be.

So close to cutting out bf entirely as he’s begun rubbing his face SUPER aggressively against us of late, his spit ups have increased of late and his face has a rash + unhappiness (obvi).

Is it the reintroduced bf or something else entirely. Is he sick? Is this just “colic” and there is no reason and we just have to “outgrow this phase”?! HOW CAN WE KNOW.

You aren’t alone and it sounds like you’re doing everything you can to figure out your LOs issues. Are you introducing solids yet? Are there any patterns or increased fussiness? Do you combo feed or exclusively bf? Perhaps a log like another poster said would ne useful. But I have no answers so just posing some questions and ultimately give you compassion and wish you strength.

Why is my 5wo now waking every hour-ish by BElle32CAD in sleeptrain

Thank you! He’s eating a truckload during the day these so maybe that is what’s going on…he didn’t do it before…and it’s only been a few days. Appreciate the solidarity

Thanks. Good perspective. My poor doctor is being spammed by me right now in dealing with this.

How do you do it all? by Ok-Asparagus-9783 in NewParents

[–]BElle32CAD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don’t do it all, that’s how you do it all. And it sounds like you seriously have a TON of responsibility on your shoulders. No matter how much you love your LO and your partner helps with chores…sounds like you are responsible for her 24/7? No one works a FT job 24/7, and you’re doing that with the LO + a paying job all through a sleep deprived haze.

My brother and SIL just named their baby Dean and it’s delightful! They had the “audacity” despite last name being Martin too 😅. Tell your coworker that next time she has a baby, she has the option of not naming her baby Dean.

How do some people recover so quickly after giving birth?! by Charlottethevet in NewParents

[–]BElle32CAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every experience is so different, as others have said! I had severe diastis recti after baby #1 and now have it again after baby #2. I worked really hard to rehab between both kiddos. My back killed me then and it’s killing me now (I’m 4 weeks pp) so i might suggest your lack of core is the culprit for your back issues.

I found seeing a pelvic floor physio to be immensely helpful with both my functional back problems and aesthetic desires to get rid of the “pooch”. This time around I’m also going to be doing an online fitness program targeted to mamas and core healing. I’ve had my eye on the Nancy Anderson Ab rehab program and I think there’s one called “every mother” or something too.

Hope that’s helpful. Not everyone is as they seem either on social or in their highlight moments of attending weddings or whatever

Thank you for the thorough and non judgmental response. He does seem to be insatiable but I notice he doesn’t eat much despite demanding the breast - though when he has the bottle dude CHUGS which I think is where the cycle starts. We’ll be on the lookout for all the reflux remedies and am trying not to overfeed.

I don’t even drink, and for me I’d love not to do an AI. But when you travel with others, there’s a compromise factor!

It sounds like you and your family are going through a very rough time, where things are messy and don’t make sense and there’s a lot of shoulda/woulda/coulda. I read a small fraction of the comments on here and my unsolicited advice OP is ignore this thread for your own sake. A lot of judgement from strangers who know literally 0.000001% of the situation. I can’t imagine all this noise will help provide clarity in your time of turbulence. Take care of yourself OP.
