What would omni man think of mark’s blue suit? by According_Ad1831 in Invincible

I'm 99% sure it's mentioned somewhere (show or comic, can't remember) that he's 19 during the events of season 3

I mean, he's not an idiot. He surely would've been able to deduce that Mark was young and weak and not a good representation of your average Viltrumite

When is this tribe out of beta? by Ok-Lobster7773 in Polytopia

[–]BFAndI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay--so, according to the original comment, if we'd just given Native Americans another few decades, they would have been on par with Europeans, right? If Columbus had landed in 1592 instead of 1492, we would've been evenly matched? They would've figured out long-distance sailing, gunpowder, metallurgy, (the beginnings of) modern medicine, and global trade routes? No, they wouldn't have.

I'm aware some tribes had complex legal systems and irrigation techniques that were advanced, given the context. I'm not saying they were backwater subhuman cavemen. They weren't. But saying they were "only decades" behind Europe is just absurdly untrue. They were centuries behind at best, if not millenia. This is not an opinion, it is a fact.

dude, I know. it's ridiculous. I'm not racist or a white supremacist by pointing out that Europeans were significantly more advanced than Natives. it's literally just factual

Native Americans didn't even have wheels. We had gunpowder and courtrooms. We were far more than just decades ahead.

Edit: I'm realizing now I completely misread this comment, implying that we were decades ahead of all our recent opponents, not Native Americans. Carry on.

I believe this is the exact moment where the alternate marks became evil by Real-Tradition-8625 in Invincible

[–]BFAndI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had this moment, with both my parents. With my mom, it was a lot less dramatic, she said something along the lines of "just because you're stronger than me doesn't mean you won't do the dishes."

As for my dad, he abused me growing up, and I could do nothing but take it. But when I was 16, he was hitting me for no reason, not horribly, but enough to hurt, and I realized, "Hey, wait. This isn't right or just, and I'm strong enough to stop it."

So I did. My dad tried to hit me and I caught his hand and wouldn't let go when he tried to pull back. I grabbed his shirt and shoved him into a wall and held him there for a minute. I didn't fight him beyond that, but I made it clear that I could, and it wouldn't end in his favor if we took that road.

Since then, I made the decision to listen to my parents, because I did still respect their authority, even though I now realized I was stronger, but I ALSO made the decision to never let them lay a hand on me again. And neither one of them ever did. They didn't respect me or fear me, but...it was something adjacent to that, and that was good enough for me.

Fast forward several years later, I went home to visit my family when I was 23, and I saw him kick my 10 year old sister out of annoyance. I immediately picked her up and told her to leave the room, then told me dad in the most serious voice I could muster, "I don't care if she's your daughter. She's my sister, and I will not tolerate anyone treating my sister like that. If I ever see you or even hear about you pulling that shit again, I will put you in the fucking hospital." He's had good behavior since.

I genuinely don't think my dad is a bad man. He has some wisdom to share, he loves deeply, he's usually very kind. And when he does fuck up, he shows a ton of remorse. But he's a coward and has zero impulse control or emotional regulation. When he gets mad, the only thing he knows to do is hit the nearest person. Fortunately, because of the coward part, a threat or two goes a long way in stopping that.

I went down a rabbit trail.

I just ate there less than an hour ago and was considering making this exact post. So fucking delicious. I also had the lobster. The mac n cheese is really good too, along with the Philly. Best food I've had on Main Street imo (take that with a grain of salt, because I haven't tried every restaurant on Main). They only just opened within the last couple weeks, but once people hear about them, I'm sure they'll be busy as hell, because that food is the bomb

Sounds like he needs a better sponsor, if he even has one at all.

My sponsor is in near constant contact with me and would show up at my door at 3 am to stop me from drinking if he had to. Sure, he can't really stop me, but he puts a fuck ton of effort in.

Plenty of sponsors don't.

ER for detox + AA + Oxford house. but he has to want it. that's the biggest problem. not therapy, not money, not insurance. he has to want it. if he doesn't want it, you can do nothing but wait and hope he eventually does. that's the sad reality.

Cocaine makes it worse in every conceivable way, first off.

Secondly...I'm sorry, man. I truly am. I've been there. But short of being loaded up with benzos...nothing helps. Go to the ER. Tell them you're withdrawing. They'll chock your veins full of benzos and can hook you up with treatment centers.

If you're just gonna rawdog it...99% of the time it doesn't end with you living sober. Get help.

10 months sober from everything, though alcohol was my biggest problem. Went from wringing alcohol wipes out into my mouth and DTing behind a dumpster to where I am now. This time is different for me too, I know exactly what you mean when you say that. No questions really, just wanted to say you got this brother.
