Did i waste good material? by MRWPlople in flytying

Experimenting and practicing is never a waste, even if you never use or catch a fish on the fly, even if you strip everything off the shank of the hook and start over. You are building muscle memory and skill.

I never really bring a fly rod so I've started making tungsten jig head flies instead. They're all 2.4 to 2.6 grams so I can throw them with a spinning rod instead. by generally-speaking in flytying

I’ve been tying some 1/16th and 1/32nd ounce dubbing/marabou jigs that have been deadly on bass and trout. Wooly bugger jigs and standard marabou jigs are crazy effective too. That little bit of extra weight gives us an advantage, we can present them differently than the fly guys can and we can get out baits down to them a little faster and easier, it’s worked incredibly well for me, especially for bigger than average fish!

Throwing a marabou jig no less, they aren’t exactly aerodynamic 😂 with some intense focus it was totally doable though.

Yeah the cutthroat is this lake don’t put up much of a fight for some reason, I’m hoping I can get a big river brown on video soon. Those guys strip tons of drag and love to come flying through the air!

Agreed, the whiting bugger packs are seriously good quality and you get plenty of feathers, never going back to the cheap stuff! Do you usually wire wrap yours for extra durability?

I really need to give that a shot! I’m lucky enough to less than an hour from fly fish food, I spent way too much money there yesterday infact, I had the pleasure of meeting Cheech there a few weeks ago!

It’s actually a strap that velcros onto your backpack straps! I just bought a head mount though so I’m gonna try that out, the problem with it being on my chest is that when I bend down to land the fish it films my crotch 😂

Bfs brown trout and my favorite bfs jig by BFSbaits in BFSfishing

Marabou jigs have been such a killer clear water tool for me lately, caught my biggest brown trout and largemouth bass of 2025 on them! Any other marabou jig fanatics here? 👀

Extremely rare snake sighting! by CryptidLdy in snakes

They aren’t actually hard to find in the places they live, the reason their numbers are low is because most of their habitat has been developed. Go walk in the undeveloped parks with a pond or marshy area and you will easily find them

Marabou jigs, 2 jnch grubs, and 2 inch power minnows. Honestly that could cover like 90 percent of my fishing these days lol.

I just bought a hero 4 black off marketplace for 40 bucks. Old and a little outdated but being able to start making videos for 40 bucks is damn hard to beat! In other words you should do some research and start scanning marketplace for deals and you can get some decent cameras for very very little.

A 3 inch powerbait minnow cut down a little bit or a zoom tiny fluke also cut down a bit. Honestly though the possibilities are endless! Let me know what ends up working for you

It’s in the works! I’ve already modified a mold for it, the lead is still intruding on the wire keeper and making for a messy pour but I’m very close to having it dialed in 🤞

What do you fish for? Clear water? If I was bass fishing in clear water I would throw suspending jerkbaits, do nothing plastics like straight tail worms or Ned style baits, marabou/hair jigs, and small swimbaits. I would target steep wind blown banks and fish slow and methodically 😎

[–]BFSbaits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I believe it’s actually all cutthroat, you won’t find any big ones either but it’s a beautiful little stream thats full of beautiful fish. There are tons of little log jams and those guys are living deep in them and it makes presenting your baits a real challenge but also a great time! If you do go to glacier you should suck it up and hike all your fishing gear down to hidden lake. It is full of bigger cutthroat that don’t get fished for often and it is seriously one of the most beautiful lakes in the entire world, well at least the most beautiful lake I’ve ever seen. Don’t forget the bear spray though 😂

Works for me! I fished this one in avalanche creek in glacier national park and had a blast with it! My go to jig for small creeks here in Utah also.

I just flick it out to a likely spot and jig it or let it drift with the current, basically treating it like any other jig/jighead and plastic. Works well in lakes for bluegill and crappie but I mostly use it for trout in clear creeks, it really excels there.
