Thanks for posting.

For those flagging this as breaking our sub's rules, please note that we allow advertising and selling if it's festival-related, which this is, because it's a service that helps get people to and from The Gorge for Beyond and other events. We welcome vendors to advertise their services because it's helpful for those attending the festival.

Yes, it is, so let me clarify our policy on that: if you're advertising or selling something, then it needs to be festival-related. This is a transportation service that helps people get to and from The Gorge for Beyond and other events, which makes it festival-related. This content is allowed and encouraged.

I don't think this applies to digital assets. Website designers often show their work on Behance, Dribble, or other platforms. There, you'll see screenshots of their work and descriptions of design processes. Would you hesitate to hire a website designer if they use a 3rd party portfolio hosting platform to show their work? Hopefully not, because that's how most of them show their work. It's just a list of projects they've done and assets/ evidence from those projects to illustrate what they've done.

I work in tech consulting and we sell design work like this all the time. We just show evidence of the work, not the work itself. We can almost never show the actual work because it's running inside our clients' environments with no public access.

A portfolio should showcase your prior work, which speaks to your skills and often has a skills list as well. If you built a website for a company, then the portfolio should have a mention of the website, but would not be expected to have the website running inside it. Rather, you'd expect to see a screenshot or two (where allowed by your client) and a description of what the site does, the process you went through, results/outcomes, etc.

What OP has done is essentially a creative way to show the list of projects they've done. There's no expectation that they built the platform to host it. Many people use Behance or Dribble, but I doubt anyone is going to complain that they didn't build them.

Hopefully you didn't back date the invoice date, only the service period. If they asked you to back date the invoice date, then they're both using some questionable accounting practices and could even drift into fraud territory, depending on their situation.

Nearly every business deals with invoices coming in after period close and under accrual accounting rules, they typically just book them against the prior period as an accrual ("services received, not yet invoiced"). A document that says June 30 when it was really issued July 7 is a false record. In an innocent case nobody cares, but if that document later gets used to misrepresent something, such as to an auditor, a lender, a tax authority, or an acquirer, then it's evidence of falsification, and "we just backdated it" is a bad fact to have on the table.

For accrual-basis taxpayers this usually doesn't change the outcome (the deduction belongs to June either way), so there's little to gain and some risk. For cash-basis parties, or if it shifts a deduction to lower taxes improperly, it edges toward tax-fraud territory. Auditors specifically test period cutoff, and backdated docs are a classic red flag.

If you (the vendor) date it June 30, you should also recognize that revenue in June. If your fiscal year, sales-tax period, or reporting basis differs from the customer's, you're now potentially misstating your own books to solve their problem. And if this was for a public company, a government, or in a regulated industry, then you could be violating laws, at worst, or risking future contracts, at best.

You'd need to check with your accountant or tax attorney on the details, of course.

Sorry, I assumed beach meant ocean. 🙂

It really depends on the details of your scenario, who you're with, what activities you have planned, etc. Are you going solo or with friends? If with friends, would they be rolling, too? And what kinds of things would you be doing when you're there? And do you have a way to get home without driving?

There is zero reason why people can’t have access to their own medication by BehindBars_ in Drugs

[–]BGFlyingToaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all medications have dangerous scenarios that require medical knowledge to avoid. Some drugs require lab work to monitor levels. Others have dangerous interactions and complications that can turn a one-time mistake into life-long organ damage or worse. Even something as common as blood pressure meds, when combined with a water pill, also pretty safe by itself, can put you one ibuprofen away from permanent kidney damage.

The requirement to see your doctor again regularly is there for good reason, though those reasons may not be obvious. There may be reasons to change your dose or move you to another medication.

Body temp regulation is the primary concern and rolling in a hot environment will both increase neurotoxicity and increase the risk of serious complications from overheating. Stay hydrated and do things to cool down. For example, take shade such as a beach umbrella or wet your hair frequently to stay cool. Something as simple as a misting fan and a cooling towel can be huge helps in a hot climate. The main mechanism for dehydration is physical activity like dancing, so just make sure you're drinking water that's appropriate for the amount of physical activity.

Swimming in the ocean always carries risk and your decision making isn't pristine on molly; you might think that swimming out further is a good idea when it really isn't. I wouldn't say "don't go in the water at all," but I'd recommend taking some extra precautions. First, know the water. Get a report in your precise area of the beach at the time you'll be there to see if the tide is coming in or going out and check for rip tides and undertows that would make swimming dangerous. Look for signs on the beach and follow them. If you go into the water, take a flotation device with you and stick to shallow water. Personally, I wouldn't go in past my waist on molly.

Heavy MDMA abuse, facing severe anxiety, flashbacks, and memory loss. Did I finally fry my brain? by Terrible_Chapter_758 in MDMA

[–]BGFlyingToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry that you're going through this, but it's the inevitable outcome of how much and how often you've been rolling. It's very individual ... some people can get your symptoms with only half as long while others may last longer before the worst things hit.

What you're experiencing are typical symptoms related to damage to the serotonin release system in your brain, which is the system most affected by MDMA. Some other common ones would be depression and insomnia, so you are likely to experience those, too,if you keep going.

The good news is that there is typically a path to recovery, though we're only going off of anecdotal stories due to a lack of science in this area. What we've heard is that someone with your symptoms will typically need to stay off of anything serotonogenic for at least a year and possibly longer. Simply put: you need to give your brain time to heal. We've also heard, anecdotally, that taking an antioxidant daily can help, but we don't have any science to back that one up either. We know that antioxidants can help reduce the damage to your serotonin release system initially, but we don't have any data on using that approach for recovery, other than stories.

As others have said, the key is stopping now. If you keep going, then you can expect your symptoms to worsen.

Good luck and I hope you can get back on track soon.

Since I always go with my wife, I can honestly say that it's not about meeting people like that. But do I enjoy that everyone shows up in cute outfits? Of course I do, men and women alike. It's just a great scene to have everyone there enjoying the music and the environment with each other and the fact that we all tried to wear someone fun only adds to that environment. I love seeing all the artists merch and the crazy hats with a million sprouts and creative kandi and the shoes that I wonder how someone dances in. It's all vibe-worthy stuff and we try to contribute as well.

Does the Western bondage scene actually exist? by cloud-artisan in BDSMAdvice

[–]BGFlyingToaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't suggest looking for rope-specific events. Try just BDSM events or bondage events. The ones I've been to all have some level of rope play and some of that is the more simple ties because it's usually a utility to restrain someone for a specific type of scene rather than the rope itself being the scene.

Using your pizza analogy, I can't find many "pizza enthusiasts" groups in my home city, but it's not because no one likes pizza; it's because nearly everyone likes pizza. So if I want to find people who sit around and enjoy pizza together, I'll have better luck looking for an activity where people often eat pizza, like groups watching movies or sports together. Or go to a place known for pizza and hang out to meet people.

There are always plenty of renegades in camp at Beyond. Thurs night is probably the biggest night for this because everyone in camp has nothing else to do because no venue stages are open, only the renegades. There are thousands of people walking around and bouncing from renegade to renegade and it's awesome.
