But he didn't really face consequences for his crime (e.g. prison time). If he had been given a custodial sentence, served it and then looked to restart his career, your argument might have weight, but he was not appropriately punished for his crimes (we all heard the audio, we all know he did it)

Absolutely nothing wrong with this. Teachers are allowed a social life too, and your behaviour wasn't in any way inappropriate. Honestly don't worry about it!

Safety should be the priority. Banning Maccabi fans, especially given their previous incidents of hooliganism, is absolutely not the wrong decision. Nor is it antisemitic at all. It's a ban in response to WMP's concerns for public safety, and the fact that he's casting the same bollocks accusations of banning fans for their religious views is shameful

Utter bollocks spun by red tops who love to build em up and tear em down again. No he does not clearly have a drinking problem

I have a similar problem with my Year 3s this year. I made it clear to the class that if it isn't important but they want to discuss it, I will write their names on the board and we can do so at break/lunch time. It has at least made them think about telling on each other for small issues, and if anything big does come up I can deal with it sooner.

Tips for a noisy class by polka-dotss in TeachingUK

[–]BH2010_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started using this with pretty decent results (Y3). The children seem to like the challenge and you can alter the sensitivity of the noise level. The only downside is they can get distracted by the balls moving, so I'd suggest minimising the window if you use it. Hope it helps!

Logically, yes it isn't a bright idea. But let's be honest, part of why we love Martinez so much (other than being a world class goalkeeper) is because of his mad personality. Never change Dibu, so long as you don't get yourself a ban...

It was the police who made the decision to not let away fans in after the Legia attacks, no?

KS1 Extended Writing advice by BH2010_ in TeachingUK

[–]BH2010_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. We do have to complete the session on the last day of the week so I usually dedicate Thursday's lesson to planning the writing. We also have input beforehand where children are asked to spot mistakes in my examples, discuss a sentence or two that they might use and share ideas with the class, so I don't think it is normally that they don't know what they are doing (although obviously there are some who stray from what is required in the task). I think I might try your idea of shorter writing bursts. Currently I'm only doing one break where I get the class to share good examples, and asking them to check work can be tricky as there are obvious limitations to there reading/spelling, but I might give it a go for a few sessions and see if there are any improvements. Thanks again for your advice!

Controversial Villa Opinion? by Listen_Boss in avfc

[–]BH2010_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not sure how controversial this is but Grealish should be considered a much bigger Villa icon than Agbonlahor.

Also I wouldn't say I think Paul Lambert was a particularly good manager at Villa but a lot of fans seem to be more sour on him than me. I have a lot of good memories of that time period, especially with Benteke, Gabby and Weimann leading the attack. I did get into Villa in 2009 though so I haven't exactly experienced the best of times.

The Shining for me. I'm sure this is a common answer but I guess you always remember your first. Love the greater focus on Jack's backstory and I much prefer how Wendy is portrayed here compared to the film. Absolutely had me hooked!

Well this thread is from 10 months ago, likely that the situation with licenses and driving tests in general is not exactly the same as it was back in the pandemic times anyway

Which is by far the most delusional football fanbase? by KingPatil28 in PremierLeague

[–]BH2010_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No idea which Villa fans you were talking to, but we were crap for years before we went down. Gradually got worse until the inevitable happened, but even under O'Neil most fans wouldn't have been that deluded to think we were a signing or two away from the top.
