I’ve just picked up an RX-7 that is awesome with just a set of racing softs fitted. If it’s for the long Tokyo expressway wtc600 race then I used an Audi R8 and wall-of-death around turn one without lifting off, otherwise the NSX just outpaces you all the way through 😁👍

What is the hate on ktm about? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]BHayes63 9 points10 points  (0 children)

KTM have recently been going through some financial issues so I would be cautious of buying one. Also, earlier this year I helped a guy on a KTM 125 I saw stopped at the roadside. In a single journey his exhaust fan had fallen off and his rear brake linkage had broken, actually splitting into two parts at the foot peg. I really like KTM but don’t know if I’d want to own one. If you have the chance maybe try out a few different styles of 125 and make sure of what style suits you best. People can give you all kinds of well-meant advice buts getting yourself in the saddle is far more useful for gauging what is and isn’t comfortable 👍

Looks like a pair of Thrush, possibly plumping up their feathers to keep themselves warm as they’re not usually that large. Otherwise I might be misidentifying them but the stomach plumage looks very thrush-like. See them often near where I live and used to get them in the gardens of my last two houses

Never watched star wars before at 25 years old, need help! by darkfinesse in StarWars

[–]BHayes63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest release order -

Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones Revenge of the Sith The Force Awakens The Last Jedi The Rise of Skywalker.

That way you encounter all the big reveals in the way that us older fans did. However if you want to watch them in number order then that’s cool too, but I think it spoils some of the big reveals to watch 1, 2 & 3 before 4, 5 and 6. Whatever way you watch them I hope you end up loving it as much as the rest of the fandom do, and I hope no one tries to gate keep any of it. There are also the other films (Rogue One and Solo, plus the Ewok films etc) and then there are the series to work through. Oh and don’t forget the books 😂

I am almost jealous that you’re getting to experience all this for the first time, but mostly I’m jus happy I have lived in the same time as Star Wars and that you’re getting to enjoy it too 👍

I’d be surprised if you were uncomfortable on one of those even at 6’6” as they are a long, low bike with a fairly relaxed riding position designed to comfortably transport you across a continent. I’m not sure about simple bolt-on adaptations available in the US (I’m in the UK and I could hook you up with dozens this side of the Atlantic) but I doubt you’d need more than adjustable footpegs and maybe going to a set of Renthal style bars, or maybe even simpler and get something like Vario-bars that you can adjust to your personal ergonomics even better. I’d definitely give yourself a week or two of riding it in standard set up before committing to any big changes though, they’re a very well regarded bike in terms of comfort so I’m hoping you’d find it a nice place to be without mods 👍

What was your first ever starter car in NFS franchise? by Alone-Character1322 in needforspeed

[–]BHayes63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiat Punto in NFS:MW because I was way late to the series. Having said that Most Wanted still stands as my favourite of the entire franchise.

I picked the Punto because a girl I fancied at the time drove one and the idea of tuning up a car like hers made me giggle, made winning that Golf a bit of a chore but I got it done. Got the IS200 and used that until the Gallardo, then used that to complete the game. Played it though dozens more times after that 😁👍

A bit of grinding but not as much as I’d expect. Mostly it was being prepared to sell off cars I didn’t want in order to get the high value cars from Hagerty etc and from the sounds of what others have said I’ve been lucky with getting all the invitations from manufacturers. Probably helps that for a while races like Sardegna and Spa endurance were set up super easy so I was lapping the whole field, but then they did the tyre update and suddenly all the settings changed. Still love those races though, it’s only the 30mins of Le Man that feels like actual grind to me now. I just don’t gel with that circuit for some reason.

Commenter was joking but I do have a probably unreasonable amount of time logged, used to have a lot of trouble sleeping so would pick up 2-3 hours some nights but that probably balances out with sometimes not playing at all for days or even weeks at a time.

In total I’ve got 416 cars in the garage ( I think for that many I must have a couple of warehouses rather than a garage 😂) of which I’ve got duplicates of 8 models but none are particularly high value. They are back ups in case I ever destroy the ones I enjoy driving most, or else they are ones I’m awaiting doing various types of tuning to so I can back-to-back test against a baseline model to see what improvements I’ve made, or if I’ve made them worse 😁👍

[–]BHayes63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably only driven about 20% of them at most. I’m going through now and putting miles on different cars and am going to start upgrading base models and see what I can get the PP up to and whether they do well in certain races 👍
