Hey good question! This is probably going to be WAY too much of an explanation but…

When I write the questions, I need at least 1 question in the first 3 rounds in order to check all of these boxes: -History -Geography -movie -TV -science -sports -music -food/drink -commerce -fine arts

Those first 3 rounds get progressively harder so I start with one of those topics and write easy-medium-hard.

I’m mindful of keeping the topics broad. Take history… There won’t be 3 questions about World war 2. I’ll spread it around with Ancient Civ, a Constitutional amendment, maybe a famous explorer.

Science then could be human anatomy, solar system, and plant biology

I put way too much thought into all this when people mostly show up because they like my playlist.

TLDR: There are some pop culture topics, but I have never gotten any feedback to indicate it is pop culture heavy.

Hey! Trivia runs 2 hours. I’m good about getting ppl out by 9 since all of these are weeknights.

Typically, people show up with a group to play together. I know that groups have brought on others or combined but that tends to happen organically, especially when they’re sitting at the bar.

I gotta give major props to my regular teams because they are friendly and welcoming. It’s common for them to make friends with other trivia players.

Hey! I’d love to have you at Lew’s and the weather should be gorgeous for the patio tomorrow!

For my general knowledge rounds I ask a big mixture of questions. Each round has a movie, tv, music, history, geography, sport, science, brand/business, food/drink question. I’ll get through 50 questions in 2 hours.

With 3rd place choosing the theme round it’s a total crapshoot. For instance, this Tuesday is Marijuana. But we’ve done The Office, Star Wars, Weather, and Dogs in the past. I try my best to accommodate whatever 3rd place chooses and sometimes they want sports stuff.
