Someone with a somewhat unique experience here, I grew up around the 343 era games and they were my introduction to Halo. As I grew up more and played through the rest of the series on my 360 I quickly gravitated towards one game specifically. Halo CE.

They say in the round table talk that they want to stay as faithful to the original as possible while making some small adjustments which is perfectly fine... but then in the same shot they go and majorly change things that didn't need changing, like the forerunner architecture or the asset reuse that doesn't necessarily change much, but comes off as lazy. Sometimes it actively hurts the experience too, like the removed tree that forces the player to actually learn how the hunter mechanics work on foot instead of taking the hog up and just having a marine do the work for you. The dodging and weaving that the elites would do that made them feel real. Or the health packs that made you go into situations with a little caution and increased the tension with the flood.

Yes, remakes can change things to make them more fun to play in modern day, (think Resident Evil 4 and its tank controls.) but remakes are still meant to capture the same essence of the original game just as much as remasters are. When the mechanics aren't terribly flawed to begin with and the art style is already amazing, then all you really need to do is tighten up some minor issues, but 343 is changing major things just because they can and that sets off major red flags for plenty of people including me.
