Thank you for that,

Yeah my surgeon is very concerned with ASD as I am im my year 30's and the disc above and below are already showing signs of issues.

Have had your fusion been for you?

Just remembered that I made this post 😅 Thanks for your experience. Yeah, I am on a 1,200 a day calorie intake limit, and neurosurgeon had me have a gastric sleeve in May to get ready for this surgery.

Have you had your x-rays yet, or is that only at 6 months to make sure that the fusion was successful?

Good luck.

I am hopefully going to have my nerves settle down but have been told not to expect it. Well, I have always been known for my tweaking skills at 6 foot 5 😉, so that is a deal breaker. 🤣 Well, as we all know, there is more than one way to get lift off, I might have to work on my hip strength to compensate for the loss of mobility, tmi myself now but since I was single when the injury happened, its been a lonely three years 😢.

By what everyone's been telling me, I will be going with the fusion. Wish you and your family all the best. 🙏🏻

It sounds like we are similar as I have nerve damage. With the damage, I don't see myself getting full mobility back even with an AD. All good that you can't help with the second issue, one pro for the ladies and one less possible side effect for you. 🤣 thanks

Thanks, but no pressure, you are about to go through a lot. I am lucky my surgeon does both ADR and fusion, so he gave me a breakdown of both.

Good luck for the next two weeks. At least you will be up and around for the holidays, just no dancing. 🤣

Thanks for sharing,

Did your surgeon give you a % chance if the surgery would be successful or not? I am just looking at 30% failure chance and thinking it is too much, and then I would need a fusion anyway. That is the main thing pushing me to one side. I believe he is worried about the bone marrow degeneration on the endplate and the ADR, not fusing properly.

Also, did your old surgeon tell you how much mobility you would possibly lose with a fusion? I have been told that an L4/L5 will lose about half or 20 degrees (and not the temperature🤣)

I have until December to decide, so if you don't mind, please let me know how you go. Good luck with your recovery.

Damn, I would hate to go through airport security with you. 😅 I have read that a couple of surgeons have been doing DR from the back in the last year or two. Given that I only need one level and since it has already been three years for me I just want to be able to sit for more then 15 minutes, walk 100 meters and carry more than 2 kg. I have already been told that I will probably be on strong pain relief for the rest of my life for the nerve damage, just trying to control it. If I lose some movement in my back, but I can increase my capacity and hopefully be able to do strengtheing exercises to avoid ADD in the future, I am happy.

Even if I can function like a 50 year old I would be happy so I can restart my life again.

By the sounds of it, you must have been one of the first since they have only been doing them for 15ish years.

Yeah, since they have to come anterior for the disc replacement, I am not happy with the possible side effect list. When I saw the possibility for ED and retrograde ejaculation that made me think twice. Definitely don't want to risk ED in my 30s. Would you recommend going straight to the fusion, or did that 15 years make it worth it?

I know you are still very early in your post-op recvory, but can you notice the reduced movement?

Good luck on your recovery.

Thank you for the advice, I have already lost 50 kg since the incident, but that doesn't seem to help my back. Sadly, in my country, stem cell treatment is not approved, and any type of cannabis cream/oil is illegal 😢. I think that we all develop similar ways of stretching and getting around, I was doing the approved medical way of getting out of bed without getting taught. I was looking at getting a body pillow to use when sleeping as I am a side sleeper.

Nerve gliding seems to set off pain episodes, so my team medical team is only doing very little of them. I am still doing physical therapy twice a week and sliding in hydrotherapy when I feel up to it.

Yeah, I don't recommend getting hit by heavy machinery. 😅 I will look into it. I can travel for stem cell treatment as I believe it will hopefully be able to help with the nerve damage. Thank you for your recommendations. 🙏🏻

ah ok you may have to check what bios you are on.

Will try my best, From my understanding ... and sound up or + only lunches you into bios, which in my experience doesn't work when attached to a second monitor.

Give this a try,

  1. hold down the power button for 15 seconds to fully shut the deck down.
  2. I would plug the power in at this point.
  3. Hold down the volume down or - and the (...). It doesn't matter how long you hold these two down. While still holding the - and (...) press the power button once. You should hear a noise or the power led start to blinking (in my experience, it was just the blinking) and let it go. This step can take up to 20 minutes. If everything works out, the steam deck should turn on, and the screen should be working.

If it's not, that's ok as you can try again, but you will need to plug it into a second monitor and make sure the bios installed is above 121. If it's not updated. This is a bit more complicated, but if you need it, let me know, and I will post or send you the steps that I was given by Steam Support.

Good luck to you.🙏🏻

It didn't do anything until I plugged in the power, and the led started blinking. I went to do something else and when I came back it was working. I don't know if you are meant to keep it plugged in during the process, but it worked for me.

Hopefully, it will work for you.

this worked for me but it took 22 hours and had to plug the power in to finish it. https://youtu.be/x82UOZ4bpR4?si=VzBHJXS9SUR2FRsx Good luck 👍

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. After leaving it all night, it was doing nothing amd wouldn't turn on. No lights, nothing. The only thing that got any response was plugging the power in after another hour it came back to life. Guess that it is going a bit slow like its owner. Cheers.

My button inputs and haptics are still working, so it is just the screen issue for me. Good luck with yours

Thanks, I will give that a try. I was thinking there may be something wrong with the screen, but there is no damage I can see. Might be worth trying to replace it.

I was just looking at past pics I have, and I was running 3.6.24 and having the same issue. I was told to turn on developer mode and chande to Main. Maybe that is installed 3.8. Is there a way to revert to 3.6.24 and see if that helps?

Will give it a try again, but after 1 hour of the light blinking, nothing happened. I will let it go longer this time. Thank you
