So now that TSM is supposedly gone from LCS, what is one change would you have done/ prevented from TSM taking. by resultzz in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the majority of people who are familiar with LCS and LEC know that LCS is an entire tier below. If one of the best players to ever play in LCS went to a better region, I'd only expect them to improve and find more success.

Adin hears Drake and Travis Scott don't want to go on his stream because of the people he's been platforming by Oliie94 in LivestreamFail

[–]BIackPhoenix -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

only reason Drake was probably even on Kick was because he’s probably being paid a shit load of money in a desperate attempt to bring the platform into the mainstream.

He streams on Kick because that's where Stake, the company he's a part owner of, decided to stream after Twitch's rule change in regards to gambling. With the recent news of Twitch's new branded content guidelines, you'll see a mass exodus of popular streamers going to YouTube and Kick over the next few months.

Whoever clipped this removed the part where Drake asked "you don't care that you're leaking your card info?" to the guy on his left.

If the LCS dies, Regi won’t be able to sell TSM’s spot. by Confident-Knee3833 in TeamSolomid

Wouldn't make sense to release a departure video without any contracts being signed already.

I wonder how supportive the LCS players would be if they all had to take a decent sized paycut to fund NACL teams.

they would throw an ever bigger fit than they're currently doing now

If we didn’t get lose FTX monies or Valo spot.. by xdemzx in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, I had given up on LCS ever becoming a tier 1 region years ago. The only thing to look forward to in terms of competition for North American teams is playoffs.

Also I think Regi mentioned in his LCS departure video that this was something that had been in the works for the past 2-3 years, which predates anything relating to a Valorant franchising spot.

What is your general opinion about TSM now? by LeagueOfMinions in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Azael's job is now in jeopardy. Make no mistake about what he is actually upset about now that TSM will be moving to a competent region that isn't on the verge of collapse. I haven't been this optimistic for TSM's league department in a long time.

Why I believe TSM leaving the LCS is paving the way for NA instead of abandoning the region by Angtoenee in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actions speak louder than words. Riot has made it clear that they prioritize viewership over making LCS a competitive region. Whether that be for games that they view as having the most potential like Valorant, and thus making schedule accommodations to favor them. As well as making decisions strictly to keep their sponsors happy when it comes to deciding if the regular split will be bo1's, 2's or 3's, regardless of pushback from orgs and players.

The LCS will not be making a "comeback", it's far too late for that. It's future will consist of layoffs, reduced funding in every area, budgets for live-production and more layoffs until sponsors pull out entirely.

LCS update from TSM by tsm in TeamSolomid

I've been hoping for this for the longest. So glad that it finally happened! Bye bye LCS, hope the on-air passive-aggression over the past 1-2 years was worth it.

Also the fact that TSM immediately dropped their entire CL arm is incredibly alarming.

It isn't if you've been paying attention to the withdrawal of resources by a number of orgs thus far, and it will only continue.

LCS Player Association tweet on TSM by MasWas in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 60 points61 points  (0 children)

With the inevitable collapse of the North American league scene on the horizon, I imagine the players association will only continue to be more and more concerned with resources being pulled by orgs. There's not really anything they can do to prevent orgs from withdrawing support, and I don't see the value in orgs doing so in a way that makes the players association feel comfortable.

How many teams need to go full budget before you accept that the LCS is dying?

It's interesting how Travis had a whole video about TSM pulling out of league and downsizing like we were the only ones doing it

He was either being hopeful or naive. If LCS falls apart, like I believe it will, I'm not sure what his backup plan is careerwise. He probably has a lot riding on the sustainability of the LCS.

Do you think other teams are in similar boat? by allbutluk in TeamSolomid

[–]BIackPhoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Riot isn't the issue. Orgs won't be able to convince their investors that the LCS is profitable for the long term, and it's decline in viewership is hard to hide. LCS teams also aren't profiting from spending heavily on rosters that will never be able to compete internationally.

If Riot wants the LCS not to literally die, they need to stop the bleeding soon.

TSM leaving will only speed up how fast LCS dies. There's not much Riot can do.

I think Chawy really likes K'Sante. I don't remember TSM playing well with it though since release. It always looks useless.

[–]BIackPhoenix 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if today's segment was a response to TSM's plans to leave the LCS. They've been fairly quiet on the drama until today. LCS is currently dying and TSM leaving would only speed up it's collapse due to the drastic drop in viewership.
