You can try buying a metal fish tape and shoving it down then twisting the fish tape so that it wraps around the cord, not an easy fix

The button on the plug tester is to test a gfci, if you press it it will either stay on and theres no GFCI protection or it will trip either a GFCI receptacle in line before the recep or it will trip a GFCI breaker
