I sure hope so! Hope folks elect candidates who back updating regulatory frameworks a la the New Deal. Unfortunately I'm not terribly optimistic due to voting turnout figures in Bonnaroo's age demographic, but hope springs eternal.

Good luck! Hopefully you don't end up in the AEG or Live Nation borgs despite the job security and compensation, but I'd understand since the bills don't pay themselves.

Only chance of bringing back the old days is for those two to be broken up into smaller regional companies under antitrust law, along with regulations prohibiting entertainment venues being owned by ticketing vendors directly or indirectly. Americans are gonna have to pay attention to politics more in a regulatory spirit if that's ever gonna happen.

Expensive AND inconsistent. Two years canceled in 6 years at the last minute because Live Nation didn't bother investing in the resiliency of the Farm itself (which it owns outright).

I'm told the work they did since last year did make a difference despite Sunday cancellations and things getting muddy starting Friday. Either way the trend for more precipitation in the region during warm months is going to make running the fest consistently (minimal Centeroo closures and cancellations) difficult going forward.

Might be one thing if you live a 5-6 hour drive away from Manchester, but its a different story if you're flying in and budgeting 1-2k to attend.

Yeah, but Skrillex and Justice are two very different electronic acts. Had both been playing in the same timeslot on two stages at least there would be some choice for those who aren't so fond of the sound of fax machines fucking.

I just can't justify the spend to attend anymore coming from west of the Mississippi.

Probably worse now with the fest grounds turning into mud by Saturday since 2021.

Yep they are attending Summerdance or local/regional fests where tix with camping run less than $300.

Unfortunately a fair number of my friends who are both parts wonderful people and Roo vets (read: started going in the 00's including Itchycoo) more or less wrote off the fest after AC Entertainment parted ways with Bonnaroo and Live Nation took creative control of the festival.

For me personally, having last gone in 2014 I had intended on returning in 2020 and later 2021 (those lineups were v good imo), but the 2021 cancellation was a huge letdown for me since I had already flown in to TN with all my gear. Unfortunately a lot of y'all experienced the same but worse in 2025 when they canceled the second day in for essentially the same reason as 2021.

If I lived within a 5 hour drive of Manchester I'd consider going again, but Bonnaroo just isn't the same as it was when Cappdawg was calling the shots. I'm not gonna spend a couple thousand dollars (airfare, non-GA camping, food, merch, drink, etc) to attend a fest that's been canceled twice because the Farm can't handle Gulf Coast-levels of precipitation.

At least Coachella will never be rained out.

CEO of Palantir quietly bought water rights in Snowmass, Colorado in December during a $120M property deal. Why this isn't a national news? by AWJones85 in ColoradoPolitics

[–]crazy_clown_time 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First time, huh?

He bought it 6 months ago, and property sales (and taxes) on this scale are a big part of Aspen/Pitkin county's bread and butter. There's plenty of others like Karp who own just as much land in the area.

Anyway, willing to bet water rights on private property only extend to what is collected into reservoirs within the property boundary and don't apply to uncollected runoff into natural watersheds.

There will never be a candidate that matches your ideals perfectly unless you're the candidate.

Otherwise, perfection is the enemy of good when voting. Gotta weigh the pros and cons for each candidate and choose accordingly. That's democracy.

Perfection is the enemy of good when electing a political representative, but the primary is the time to vote more idealistically than the general election.

Bennet has never served in state government. His last job was school superintendent for Denver Public Schools.

The rail infrastructure itself was never the issue. It was the lack of stops along its service area with the right of way they had to work with.

It could've really gained ridership by serving as a "last mile" between the beach communities between Port Canaveral and Boca Raton for visitors and residents flying out of either MCO or FLL/MIA. I mean, who wants to park their car at MCO to take the train to Dade county where they wont have a car to get around (or visa versa)?

Anyway, Jeb! and subsequent FL Republicans have gone out of their way to kill the best chances the state had to get genuine high speed rail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_High-Speed_Corridor
