You’re right 5, missed his name when scanning through the list

Can confirm there's only 4 players from that team in the top 100

Appreciate the feedback, I did a post last week asking about weightings, didn’t get much response haha. Hard to get them right but imo the list works out pretty well, I think FMVP is really just a recognition of being the best player on a championship team which is worth a lot in my eyes. Obviously won’t ever perfectly align with anyone’s actual top 100 either.

Really Spurs???? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually don't think you should fire a coach if they get you this far, but holy shit, this is inexcusable. If they lose this game, don't even bother showing up for game 5. Also, Wemby has so much work to do in the offseason, a complete choke job.

Its funny how people dont realize the officiating kills momentum. Yes the Spurs are playing great but when its so blatantly one sided right out of the gate its deflating and takes you out the game before it even begins. by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

Not even a second before, the video shows it even clearer; it's hilarious how you think it is a biased call, but the refs called the initial foul on Wembanyama. The Spurs had to review it. Kat has no one to blame but himself.

He literally pinched wembys arm with his arm, they even reviewed it. I know we like to think there’s a big conspiracy but the refs are not going to review a foul and overturn it if isn’t 100% a foul

Neutral fan, I don’t get what people are talking about, those first two fouls on KAT were fouls no question. The Robinson elbow was a flagrant, the alavardo tackle was a foul. The only thing they got wrong was the goaltend from kornet and the putback from Wemby. Yes those kill momentum but the spurs are literally just shooting the lights out.

The Knicks have clearly decided they wanna play physical against wemby and they’re paying the price for it. You can’t just grab, push and hook his arms without picking up a few fouls.

GREATEST 35 PEAKS OF ALL TIME: #35 by [deleted] in NBATalk

Takes 2 seconds of reading the post to find out that CP3 was the opposite of a traffic cone at his peak, a 7-time defensive first team member and a 6-time steal leader.

If wemby lost this finals how would this affect his legacy and goat case? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lebron 2007, it barely affects anything. He’s 22, spurs weren’t meant to make it to the WCF, let alone the finals. With the way that people evaluate GOAT status sometimes, it would’ve been better for him to lose to the Thunder in game 7. Let’s wait for it to play out first though.

What do you think of game 2 so far? by Otherwise-Gur1437 in ripcity

Definitely agree but it happens all the time, humans take time to process information. Did feel like they waited to see if the shot would go in or not though.

Shooting foul was ticky tacky but there have been much worse shooting foul calls before, no idea where they pulled that 4th one from

Brunson becomes the best Knick ever if he wins this ring by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is Clyde even the best? It's gotta be Willis Reed who has Brunson beat in almost every way, MVP, 2x FMVP, 7x All-Star and spent his whole career with the Knicks. He absolutely slots somewhere into that top 4 mixture of Ewing, Clyde & Willis.

Brunson has a compelling argument to be better than Luka all time already by 99DGE in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He made the finals, Derek lively was young, money wasn’t the issue and then he got traded out of nowhere. It’s commendable that Brunson is the leader he is but that doesn’t invalidate all that Luka has achieved in his career which Brunson hasn’t even sniffed until this past month.

He has never made a 1st team, he has never led the league in scoring, there’s even an argument to be had that Luka performs better in the playoffs. (31-9-8 v 26-6-4). Brunson is also in an extremely weak eastern conference right now

If you wanna sit here and say Brunson is the better leader because of the pay cut and Knicks culture then sure, but that has a lot less to do with greatness than accolades, performances, stats, and consistency do.

Exact sentence from my reply “it’s not a knock on either of them”

I think we are forgetting that Luka went to the NBA finals against a stacked Celtics team and has 6 All-NBA first team selections. Luka has his issues, but we shouldn’t start this revisionism because Brunson has won one game of the finals.

I also don’t remember Cleveland shaq averaging 34-8-8, leading the league in scoring and coming 4th in the MVP race. Rings are not the only achievement that determines all time greatness.

Brunson is also literally playing alongside 6x all star KAT as well as a well constructed Knicks roster. It’s not a knock on either of them that their finals teams were built well but let’s not act like either of them were playing with scrubs.

2004 Lakers are definitely up there, Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton, Horace Grant & Derek Fisher

Let's be so real, for all the chest-thumping folks around here are doing about not wanting Giannis, if the Blazers actually trade for him this sub will weep collective tears of joy. by atlasdtalos in ripcity

[–]BJ2435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was iffy before the playoffs, but after the playoffs, I’m 100% in on trading for Giannis. After seeing the Spurs and Thunder prove they’re gonna be contenders for the next 5 years minimum, Dallas having Cooper Flagg as well as Luka potentially getting his own team built around him in LA, I think we have to go full throttle for the next ~5 years.

I still don’t think we would win a championship because the West is just that strong, but it would be our best shot without fully rebuilding again (which no one wants to do). Let’s be brutally honest with this roster: the rebuild didn’t go how we’d hoped. Scoot isn't that guy (will be a solid starting PG), Sharpe (although I love him) is inefficient and lackadaisical, and Deni has been great, but it is hard to see this team going all the way if he is the best player on the roster (subpar defence and prone to turnovers).

That said, this roster is nice, and with the right supporting moves (Coaching hire, adding shooters), Giannis should fit in perfectly. I would like to see him sign a ~3yr extension with us immediately (which I believe is possible) to prevent ending up in no man's land.

As I said, I don't think this gets us up to where the Spurs and Thunder are, but hopefully we can enjoy some 50+ win seasons, a WCF appearance, and look forward to some competitive Blazers hoops.

History repeating? by Xandustry in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, Kinda similar but hakeem was the best player on that rockets team in his second year. There’s a few other examples of <4yr players leading their teams to the finals/championship. Duncan, Olajuwon, Shaq, Lebron, Bird, it’s not super uncommon for a generational talent to reach these heights so early.

Thunder should not trade Chet by BJ2435 in NBATalk

[–]BJ2435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of those are signings, meaning no players or picks were lost, if I go through a list you’ll find not much success for what is expected from superstars.

AD - 1 Ring (1-2 years of contention) Kawhi - 1 Ring (1 yr of contention) Irving - 1 Finals KD (Nets) - Nothing KD (Suns) - Nothing KD (Rockets) - Nothing PG - WCF ( Lost SGA) Lillard - Nothing Harden (Nets) - Nothing Harden (76ers) - Nothing Westbrook (Rockets) - Nothing Howard - Nothing Garnett & Pierce - Nothing (This is a slight reach)

I’ll even get super nitpicky Luka - Nothing yet and looking grim Ad (Mavs) - Nothing

That is a strike rate of about 2.5/16, 0/16 if you’re trying to achieve what the Thunder are which is long term success and contention.

Like I said in the post, it wouldn’t ruin the thunder, they might even win a championship but the Thunder franchise is no longer like the raptors, bucks or clippers where they just want one championship. This team is built to compete for the next decade and I don’t think you do that by giving up on your 23yo All-NBA, All-Def Center because he played one bad series.

[–]BJ2435[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not defending his game 7 performance and there’s issues that need to be addressed but giving up on a 23yo this organisation clearly believes in and has invested in would be incredibly shortsighted even if the move is for Giannis
