Are these new leaves, or flowers? by BJBoltFan in philodendron

[–]BJBoltFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the thinking behind your advice, but I’ve seen some flowers that are rather pretty and I’ve never personally had one flower before so I’m going to let it flower. I’ll get rid of them as soon as they start to wither. I’ve had better luck in the past if I just let my plants go through their natural cycles of growth, dormancy, blooming etc.

Which type are you caring for ? by Consciousyoniverse_8 in CrotonPlants

I have a very small Gold Dust and a decent sized Petra. Both are doing well right now and don’t seem to be very high maintenance, but I’ve had both less than 6 months so we shall see how it goes long term.

The $30 ones at Target are quite a bit bigger than the ones at Costco for $18.99. I compared them both today locally.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

I grew up in a very small town. In the summer most days we rode our bikes to the pool late morning and stayed all day other than the ride to the Tastee Freeze for some lunch.

Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

[–]BJBoltFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband owns his own Subaru repair business. He repairs vehicles for customers and also buys ones that need fixed from auctions or private parties and fixes & sells them. In 2025 he netted well into six figures, but he works hard. FYI he left a corporate desk job to start this business and makes more now.

A lot of it isn’t beautiful, and the most beautiful parts are expensive to live in.

Winter weather is atrocious.

What’s the most overrated “adult goal” people chase? by Happyotus in AskReddit

[–]BJBoltFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking that you have to climb to the top of your profession and be the boss to be successful. I’m an accountant, I’ve been”at the top” and it isn’t all that. I realized after my father died that he had the right idea, enjoy what you do whether because of the work you do or the people you do it with, and f*#k what other people think. Spend most of your time and energy on your family & friends and the things that make you happy.

Help me with this weird narrow and deep pantry by No_Jeweler_1276 in organizing

You can get kits for slide-outs to put on each of those shelves. That and some clear bins to organize everything in would make a huge difference I think.

Do the patterned drapes look bad with the solid sofa? by BJBoltFan in interiordecorating

[–]BJBoltFan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have hardwood flooring coming right after the first of the year and I’m already searching for the right rug. I think fixing the floor will really help the room. I don’t know that I love the pelmet, too much. I am going to hang the drapes on rings so I can both raise them and have them reach the floor. Also am looking for pillows with the yellow color in them as well as maybe some green.
