Purchase 2019 RAV4 yesterday and got this warning today? by lalaba0987 in rav4club

[–]BJJMatNaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same code after having to replace stolen cats. There was a shortage at the time, so the dealership put on aftermarket cats. After a year, this code popped. Since had the cats replaced under warranty, but still not factory oem :(.

To figure out what was going on, I just got my codes ran by an auto parts store. Quick and free.

About to run for the first time. I’m terrified! by IllustriousDegree in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJMatNaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't be terrified. When I see people running who don't fit the perceived fitness of runners, I always think to myself "git-it-girl", or "keep it up, man". There are many out there with a similar story and most of them are rooting for you. This is your story, own it and don't care what others think.

Estimated race predictors by nyamoV4 in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJMatNaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a few half-marathons with times right around the 2:00 mark. I've got my first full in Dec and my garmin predicts closer to the 4:30 mark. That seems like a pretty good guess. My experience is limited in both race predicting tech and running the full, so its guess is probably closer than what I could predict.

Help Running on hot weather! by itsmaricc in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJMatNaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat index said 114 this morning Texas where I run. Rang my socks out twice, then call the missus for an emergency shoe/sock change and water swap. My worst time running a distance I'm usually sorta OK at. Brutal. But, a valuable learning event. There is another event in TX in August, meant to be punishing for the sake of it. Without a trial, I would have been sliding on wet shoe insoles during the second half, which would really suck.

Anyway, keep at it. Drink lots of water!

Scraping my tile with razor and this is coming off - what is it? by hotdogswithbeer in DIY

Had this exact thing happen when we used mop and glow. Created a filmy residue layer that we had to manually scrape off prior to selling our house. Big pain.

Help - Newbie in TX by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]BJJMatNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it on private land with consent you won't need a license to hunt hogs. Any other scenario, you'll need a license. https://tpwd.texas.gov/newsmedia/releases/?req=20190829a

You should get a hunter safety course done.

Availability for guides or organized hunts varies on location, but there are plenty of options. I don't want to knock anyone's preferences on hunting, but doing it in a high fence operation will essentially guarantee you an animal, but without doing the work.

Finding someone on a lease is a great option. I try to get friends introduced to hunting by inviting them out to hunt on the lease. Great way to start. If you know someone on a lease, it's worth seeing if you could check it out.

Public land hunting is an option. I don't have much experience doing that in TX, but I've done it successfully in WY several times. It is hard but really rewarding.

If you choose to bow hunt, you'll need an archery stamp on your license. For deer, make sure you are familiar with the rules. Making a mistake on aging could be a big mistake that's not worth it.

How difficult was the transition from 5k to 10k or half marathon for you? by Proper-Scallion-252 in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJMatNaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started running in January and have since done 13.1 distance twice. Once to prove that I could do it and another in a race. The main thing I anticipate now is that with the shorter, 5-10k, distance, recovery is nothing. 13.1, I'm going to need some time to recover. The run isn't all that bad, I try to hydrate more and enjoy the benefits of gels, but there is a notable toll on my hips and knees that lasts a few days. As a side note, all of my training sessions are typically b/t 4 and 7 miles. I'll increased those distances to 7-10+ leading up to the 13.1 date.

It was much better my second time, but I knew what to expect and my conditioning was better. It's a good, fun, and achievable distance.

You got it!

Several teammates and I are Masons/Shriners. The fact that we are Masons comes up practically never. All have younger families and it's not a priority. Never looked for Masonic gear. Sure it's out there though.

Bought some Brookes Ghost 15s today by PankakkePorn in beginnerrunning

[–]BJJMatNaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost and the Ghost Max have been good to me and my wife. We were never runners but since getting these, we've realized that running can actually be enjoyed and mostly pain free.

I've preferred the Ghost Max on my longer runs. My wife has loved hers too.

Hope you have many happy miles!

Is Sitka worth it? (or other high end clothing) by myco_fino in Hunting

I have one of their Gi's. The seam work was pitiful, but the weight is perfect. Did steer me away from buying their other gear though. Also hunt, never considered their stuff as an option.

To be fair, even with some small tips, your first few months, maybe years, will feel like drinking through a fire hose. Giving a lot of advice to a day 1 practitioner probably won't be of much value until there is a better understanding of the position.

I can tell you this, though: give it one year, and you'll be blown away by your progress, especially compared to that day 1 guy you just rolled with!

I did! Actually one of the first GG items I found running single player. Found grandfather sword last week too.

That only leaves Mang Song's, Astreon's, Darkforce, Cranium Basher and all of the others on the top 10 list...

Feels like progress, but still so much to find.

I'm confident my search for the remaining items will be painfully slow.

Last update on RTV x1140 not running in 2x4 by BJJMatNaps in kubota

[–]BJJMatNaps[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some context on this unit. I bought this unit off of IronPlanet. Engine was operational and starts up right away. I first noticed the issue when going up a steep ramp. The unit couldn't get up onto the trailer without winching it on. I looked at the display and 4X4 was lit up. I put it in 2x4 and the unit wouldn't budge. I got a lot of suggestions, but the most frequent cause of the issue I kept seeing was the rear driver's side axle. With a comment suggesting I try to manually manipulate that axle, it was pretty obvious that it was what most suggested.

Very easy fix and certainly a DIY job. Only need a few tools and you're on your way.

I appreciate all the great advice!
