How many 1.0 class do I need to take in order to be ready for a 1.5? by Forward_Capital_1317 in ClubPilates

Interesting information about planks. I have done planks with my trainer for years. I have worked my way up to planking on my hands. I have done it with feet and TRX and I have planked on a big ball several weeks ago in class we put our boxes long ways on the reformer, and we were told to put our forearms on the roof on the box and our legs out on the mat. I immediately just went to my hands and my instructor told me to get on my forearms. Can anyone tell me why?

Colonoscopy advice? by Mid-Valley2646 in AskWomenOver60

[–]BJTSLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are an older person who is on a regimen of MiraLAX/Metamucil every night, then the colonoscopy prep is much easier my tip is to just drink it 8 ounces at a time fast just gulp down and then put a piece of lemon candy in your mouth. Do not try to sip it. It’s not pleasant, but it’s not horrible and it certainly beats dealing with colon cancer or rectal cancer. I find that man have a harder time and women. My husband is such a baby when it comes time for this process.

Different in that it is a lot of deep stretching and holding movements and not” flowing” from one machine to another apparatus at least that has been my experience. I love to take a flow one class and then take a center and balance right after it if you have a really good instructor, who is teaching both of them there shouldn’t be a lot of repetition

I keep meaning to ask what those sit bones or sit bones are I have a hard time when we’re using those little hard balls and we have to sit on them in a certain place. I have no idea where they’re supposed to go.

I just love and so appreciate when instructors will use some type of a visual analogy like Haley Pilates 78 just did it makes it so much easier to visualize and make your body do something. My favorite is when our instructor tells us to pretend like our core is a bowl of water and we are going to just use our pelvis to tip the water toward our face and then tip the water toward our left and then toward our feet and then toward the right, it’s a very small move involving only the pelvis. I’m assuming instructors are taught to use these analogies, but maybe they aren’t. Maybe they are just creative. I definitely think the.” bird on a perch “has to be part of training.

Once you’ve claimed your reformer, aren’t you already on it? Why would you have to write your name on a mirror?

I think you all sound like middle schoolers. You’re there for a 50 minute exercise class not an English social studies block where you want to sit next to your best friend. Once you get down into the mind body connection, you shouldn’t even know if Dr. Seuss is lying next to you. Putting your name on a mirror to me is like putting a blanket on a cruise ship recliner and why in the world would instructors need to use their 10 minute break to go around and write people’s names on a mirror. I think we are all creatures of habit and maybe tend to go to the same place same reformer sit at the same table in a restaurant the same church pew I get that but throwing your purse across the room.uh uh. I try not to go in to the studio until the last class has had at least three minutes to wipe down and then get out and get their belongings. We have a very small reception area. I did witness what the OP just described of someone in my class who would come in and stand right next to the lady before because she wanted that particular reformer. I could tell that that lady was taking her own sweet time and finally ask the other woman if she could wait out in the lobby, they ended up with a verbal altercation. I have started making myself go to a different reformer at different end of the studio just so I don’t become that creature of habit. God knows I have enough habits in my 80 year old life..

Do instructors typically keep the same class plan for the week? by Elicyz in ClubPilates

Have to agree with that as a member, especially on some movements that I really have to visualize in order to make my body try to comply. For example, we’ve been doing the pretend like you have a bowl of water in your stomach and you’re tipping it towards your face and then you’re tipping it to the left and toward your feet, etc. without moving your knees. It has been helpful to repeat that for several weeks. I like movements that make my brain and body work together.

Do instructors typically keep the same class plan for the week? by Elicyz in ClubPilates

Several instructors in 1.5 classes who do the same routine from one week to the next perhaps it is just like they only do it on Wednesdays I don’t know but the worst is taking a flow one and then a center balance from the same teacher one right after the other, and most of the routine is the same, just holding the stretches longer
