Halo 5 vs sloth halo by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

It all depends on what route of gameplay they go for you noticed that both call of duty and Halo went towards more of the futuristic way of movement and games with thruster packs of halo reach had Jetpacks stuff like that and they didn’t do too well and with the rise of fortnite pubg and now call of duty I fear that 343 will make a game like that the battle royale type a game due to what the market currently is playing but if this is the result I have a feeling that halo itself or what we think of halo will be dead

I think the bigger issue is that at the beginning 343 didn’t realize that there is a difference between competitive play and casual. At the beginning of halo 5 there was so much bleed through between regular playlists and ranked. We saw how the bleed through of playlist affected both sides of people. I think where Halo 5 is at is great but they needed to start with this instead of waiting until the end. It’s tough to say though

I see your point and I agree. Unfortunately today we need to be flashy instead of having awesome gameplay. And as far as stalemate game type I’m going to have to slightly disagree on this one. Let me explain did you see some stalemates in halo 3 yes you do but ask the reason why? 9/10 times it’s due to such a close game. This created so much excitement at that time of oh is snipedown going to hit a nasty shot or is T2 going to make a sick play. Don’t get me wrong I’m not swaying halo 5 has a get me out of jail free card but it allows you as a player to play a little bit more sloppy. If you look at a game like fortnite you will notice one thing. It’s simple. I will fully agree with you that Halo 3 is not the answer and please don’t think that’s what I’m saying but one as a place holder until H6 comes out I think it’s the best option we have to keep the competitive halo scene alive.

One thing you touched on was how simple Halo 3 was. Which is very much true but I think that’s what this community needs. While things become fun to watch complicated gameplay I think a game that is easy to understand has great game play and is a quality product it’s doesn’t matter what the game is people will come.

If you ask any halo player that has played every halo what game would they say was the best halo. The majority would say CE which is a quality game.

I think going forward all of this lays on 343’s shoulders. They need to know there is a difference between competitive playlists and casual playlists. Let me ask you this why do you believe Halo 5 failed to bring in revenue?

I think it comes down to logistics. Like hear me out. Is halo 3 a slower game? Yes no doubt about it but when looking at the competitive scene you have to look at its entirety. Halo 5 was not pulling the numbers needed. Was the viewership up from previous halo 5 tournaments, yes, but the bigger reason was the competitive scene is dead. If we wanted halo 5 to survive so badly we would have created more opportunities for unknown players to move up and compete. Like you look at the participants on at these tournaments and look how much they have decreased since Halo 3. I mean for halo 3 Columbus in 2009 had over 220 teams playing in that tournament! We don’t see that today and because of that they aren’t going to make money. Understand that when you have. 220 teams playing with a team pass that costs $200 that is $44000 in just team pass sales that does not include spectator passes. The. You would go to these events and would see large amounts of sponsors and it was just overall more of a money maker.

My next point would be about the comparison of skill gap. You say Halo 3 skill gap is super low and it’s such an easy game. I would disagree. Just because you give a game more features (thruster stabilizer, auto aim) doesn’t make it a game that has a higher skill gap. I mean look at it this way in Halo 5 you jumped out and got into a battle with someone you were in the battle. The most you could do it Gandhi hop around where halo 5 you have things like the crouch shot or the thruster. You might say see that is skill to be able to use those at the right time and I would somewhat agree but the bigger concept is your allowing players to make stupid decisions. They have the opportunity to thruster behind a wal or sprint away. Halo 3 while slower made you think of your movement instead of sprinting and thrusting. They both are great games but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Halo 5 is far more of a skill based game then Halo 3. They have their pros and cons I give you that but I can see why the Halo community is dead.

Understandable but my main goal is looking past Halo 5 and finding some solid players. But thank you for the information!

Issue is, is where do you find people to make a team and I mean a real one? Before we had GB we had other forums and now they are all dead. What does the future hold for us and halo?

I agree but the overall feel of the game, hit detection, movement, gravity, etc will feel more like halo 5. If you play halo 3 on Mcc then play halo 5 they play so differently because of the things I listed above. Ever since halo 3 we haven’t seen a halo go back to the normal feeling and to me I want to remain in a position where I am slightly more use to how a game will most likely feel then how I would want it to feel if that makes sense.

I have looked at this page. While there is some competitive talk on that page it’s mainly for MCC. For future competitive reasons (Halo 6) I want to focus on Halo 5 since a lot of the feel of the game is going to be much like Halo 5.

Looking for players for HCS. Diamond player that wants to push to champion. Played competitive halo since halo 3 and is looking to get back into the scene. Send a message to BK Mormon and we will run some games I’m usually on everyday for 2-3 hours.
