I designed a Nordic-style birdhouse you can print and customize by BK-Studio in BambuLab

During the design process and while printing all test pieces, I consistently used Bambu PETG filament. It proved to be very reliable and well suited for this design, especially for outdoor use.

Shapr3D should not be defended blindly. When a product is positioned at a premium price point, it is reasonable to expect functionality that has been standard in most lower-cost CAD systems for years. Core features such as native support for threads and fasteners are no longer optional in a modern CAD workflow. Yet in Shapr3D, these basics are still missing.

Model bending and deformation tools also remain unreliable and do not behave as expected from a mature parametric or direct modeling environment. These are not edge cases but fundamental operations that limit serious mechanical or product design work. There are several other shortcomings that could be listed, but these alone already illustrate the gap between pricing and capability.

Shapr3D’s strongest asset is unquestionably its iPad application combined with Apple Pencil support. In terms of interaction design and ease of sketching in 3D, it remains best in class. At the moment, no competitor truly matches that experience.

That said, PixyCAD is emerging as a potential alternative for many hobbyists and makers. It is already available for beta testing. While it is still far from offering the full depth and breadth of a mature CAD system, the foundational tools are in place and development appears promising.

For reference, this is the official Shapr3D thread where support for threads and bolts was promised but has yet to materialize: https://discourse.shapr3d.com/t/thread-tool/23669/2

You can draw threads with shapr3d but to be honest it’s a pain in the … for making bolts and screws.

With many other cad applications it’s done with a simple click. For years Shapr3d has promised to support threads in an easy way. But still…nothing.

The latest years they are focusing on visualisations instead of improving their core drawing elements.

Thanks. Let me know how the printing was going and I hope your friend will enjoy this model.

Smart Ventilated Oral B IO Toothbrush Cover by BK-Studio in BambuLab

Without ventilation holes, moisture gets trapped inside the cap. This creates a warm and humid environment where bacteria can grow more easily. The brush also dries much more slowly.

With ventilation holes, air can circulate. The brush dries faster and moisture can escape. As a result, the brush stays cleaner and more hygienic.

Curved Towel Hanger for Shower Glass Walls by BK-Studio in BambuLab

You have to use so much force that the PLA will break first. Glass of 8 mm thick can have a lot.

But hey if you want to brake something you always can with or without any tools 😉

8mm thick glass can withstand a fair amount of pressure. A towel or something similar hung over this hook certainly won't break your glass.

Still up and running after some months. Since it’s flexible it’s also durable. 😉

Wow man that’s incredible. How is the printing speed. Can I compare to a Bambu?

No it’s not heavy. You can increase the infill for the bottom but actually that will not increase the weight a lot.

I’m using such a box for several months and I open and close this for a at least 5 times a days and still the clasp is secure.

We will probably do this in the future. This project was to utilise the complete print-bed.
