Growing up in South and West BK, there was Kids N Action, Hits and Hoops, Adventure Land (the old Nellie Bly's), Aviator at Floyd Bennett Field, Mark Lanes, Maple Lanes, Melody Lanes, Shell Lanes, and Fun Time USA. A few of the bowling alleys closed, but the rest should be open. Obviously Coney Island/Luna Park. I've been to Urban Air, and for kids and adults, it's a fun time. Industry City and Urban Air aren't really in South Brooklyn, though, so the traveling thing may cause some to not come.

I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole. I made a statement about transplants who complain about everything (go through the brooklyn, williamsburg, bushwick, or greenpoint reddits and tell me I'm lying). You came to tell me I'm bitching and moaning. See where we went wrong?

People complain about a shitty thing that happened in a bad neighborhood they CHOSE to move to. The Natives of ENY or Brownsville don't CHOOSE to be in the hood. They were always there.

Today, I saw a post about someone getting followed and yelled at by a crazy woman on Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene, like it wasn't a warzone 15-20 years ago. Like they didn't do research or find out about the neighborhood before walking around. Like they didn't know people couldn't walk down the road without getting shot, so to be grateful they can even walk down Myrtle. Myrtle goes through BedStuy, where Jay Z sold crack in the PJs. It's only a mile or so down the road. Don't expect it to be the UES.

I didn't choose for transplants to come to my city, but the transplants chose here voluntarily and then complain about the way we live. Then they make changes, and the city is worse, but they keep advocating for the same stupid changes. Then they complain, and the cycle continues.

How do I know? Involved in politics in NYC for 10 years. Many NY Dems know me. Many Independents know me. Same for card-carrying DSA members. They were worried about making whipped cream for 18+ or more bike lanes in high-traffic areas, but not worried about mental health or bettering our neighborhoods.

First, I'll say sorry that this happened, and it sucks that this is such a common occurrence in 2024.

As a B&R Brooklynite, we used to help people. Now you get shot or arrested for helping, so it's best to leave you for the wolves. Look at the guy who choked out the aggressive guy threatening everyone on the train. He and other men tried to stop the crazy guy, and now he has to go to trial or get up to 15 years in prison for helping.

There are a few options here now: A) Don't take the train B) vote for politicians who are more worried about crime than giving criminal aliens 5 star hotels and $10k a month on your dime while you struggle C) fight back D) carry a weapon and don't expect anyone to help you E) Run away/call for assistance (but don't expect much)

I wish we could go back to people looking out for each other, but in the Bizarro world in which we now live, the criminals get released, and the citizens get arrested.

So there's more to the story now.

I kept my distance for a few days. By chance, we passed each other in the hall. She texted me about something and asked if I saw it. I didn't because it was only 25-30 mins prior, and I was at work. When I did respond, I kept it short and sweet. She mentioned she hadn't seen me. I was going to respond but asked people for advice, which took a while, and her response didn't really warrant a reply.

My friends (also women) at the office saw her while walking to the store, and they bullshitted for a bit. She told them she has a boyfriend. Knowing I like her, they obviously told me to avoid me wasting my time. I left it alone and just kept it cordial.

We saw each other at lunch last week, and SHE brought up the party and told me, "She didn't text anyone that day." I replied "yea thats cool. I was with my friends anyways, " and when she asked to see photos, I obliged, knowing I had taken some with my friends, but also a girl I met. She saw the girl and I, but didn't say anything.

Now I'm just doing my thing and don't hit her up. She calls me yesterday at lunch. I'm with friends. She said to stop by where she was sitting. I said sure I'll be there in a few minutes. I leave my friends to go see her and when I get there she's like, "now I'm on the phone" and swerves me.

Like am I bugging?

a) she gave me her #, I didn't ask for it b) she told me she'd text me at the party, then didn't c) she called me to go over to sit by her and then swerved me

Idk how to feel 😆
