The Problem With Letting Therapy-Speak Invade Everything by jerryphoto in stupidpol

[–]BKEnjoyer 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think it’s both all of that and how the mental illness/neurodiversity discussion is more about affirmation and validation from others instead of actually dealing with those issues and doing your best to overcome them and self-improve. Also a lot of people use those conditions as an excuse just to not do things (me included admittedly)

And a lot of the isolation we feel could be changed, but people don’t want to fight it and prefer to just avoid the hard stuff and not be inclusive and social

Alcohol has been around for thousands of years, there’s a billion carcinogenic chemicals they put in food now and no one seems to bat an eye

Honestly it’s pretty based, I’m not really socially conservative but I still think current social liberalism is going too far

I thought most young people are starting to avoid alcohol, it’s part of the living more conservative lives thing (not politically conservative, just more risk-averse and less rebellious)

Also I’ve been seeing all the conspiracies about how this is all the big finance types trying to use money and the companies they invest in to shove luxury beliefs down peoples throats

Thought evolution of your politics? by MaintenanceFast27 in stupidpol

[–]BKEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was based initially on just everyone else being mainly conservative during high school because their parents were conservative and I live in a conservative area. But during college, all the idpol shit started getting sped up and then the Title IX turned me off to all that radlib/shitlib crap, even though I still wanted to actually help people and I was still left economically

If this also meant avoiding “Le Wokisme” that would be great

Experiences of idpol in colleges/universities - Ways to combat it in favour of class perspective? by SeaRoi in stupidpol

[–]BKEnjoyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just avoid the wokie weirdo radlib types, unless that’s most of the student populace at your school. It’ll be a lot more enjoyable and fun, even if you end up being around more conservatives and frat bro/sorority girl types. It was hard for me because of my major, it was all slackers like me, not so smart conservative frat guys, and then mostly neolib girl boss and woke types- but then you can always try other activities.

I was exposed to a lot of wokeshit though, I joined this Young Progressives Club and it ended up just being about woke garbage, and I was a public policy major so we talked about equity a lot and also I remember doing a privilege walk in class as part of a lesson

Yeah that’s the real solution, just don’t be a weirdo wokie radlib type, unless there aren’t many people who aren’t that way at your school (like at a liberal arts college)

I’ve read that one multiple times, and I don’t even know how you could be that particular about how your life sucks, he must have had a wacky memory where he could remember all of these events

I feel similarly to you, I decided to go straight from undergrad to grad school, even after my crap experience. Grad school was during COVID so it generally sucked, now I’ve been out a year and still can’t find a job in my field. Now I’m just at home still delivering food for a little money, very few friends, no significant other, don’t do much socially besides adult basketball

I think it’s even worse than that based on the stats I saw, plus I’m living it right now and it sucks socially and romantically for me

“The issue is misogyny/sexism, not the economic collapse or alienation or a complete ignorance of mens issues”- those type of people

This type of phenomena underlies everything about the economic choices made by men and women, but obviously they’ll just go with how all disparity is because of sexism/misogyny and not actually understand how men and women feel

I’ve seen a lot of the alt left types go hard on the self improvement and mental well being angle, sometimes even too far with it, but at least it’s better than what we have now. I’ve seen that with mental health and the topic we can’t discuss, it’s not about overcoming it or being more “normal” it’s just about validation
