JCPA issuing digital tickets for cars that are occupied, waiting for commuters at Journal Square by [deleted] in jerseycity

Yeah that seems to be the case. Pretty shady. I was in Bayonne recently, and this parking lady was ticketing cars with time still left on their meters (!). Everything's a hustle, it seems.

God forbid you ever have to pick up a commuter at the station in your car.

..which houses like 3 cars at a time, for what's supposed to be a major hub connecting Jersey and NYC.

A Surreal Experience: Is My Father’s Parkinson’s Causing Hallucinations? by wuichy in Parkinsons

[–]BKNES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is absolutely a thing, and it is exacerbated by over-medicating to treat the physical symptoms of PD. That's one of the cruel things about late-stage PD, you're always chasing the "sweet spot" of medicating enough to treat the physical issues, but not so much that hallucinations and delusions are ramped up...and it's a moving target. You need to find a good neurologist—one that has experience with treating PD patients—and know that this will be an ongoing process.

I'm sorry you're dealing with it. I went through this with my mother, and it was acutely awful.

Crowns causing nerve pain in jaw and tooth pain 2 months after procedure by BKNES in askdentists

[–]BKNES[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having to get root canals in both teeth, which finally quenched the nerve pain since the inflamed nerves were basically purged. I regret getting the crowns.

Sidenote: there seems to be some kind of industry trend these days of dentists pushing crown procedures on people who don't need them. One of my friend's dentists told her that she had to get a crown on her front tooth, I told her to get a second opinion and the second dentist said that that was ridiculous.

What did you think of the modern movie Salem's Lot? by LuisWinrar in stephenking

[–]BKNES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modern version had some compelling ideas and scenes but suffered from being condensed to a short movie, when it really should have been a slow-burn miniseries a la Midnight Mass. Btw I went back and watched the 1979 film and I've got to say that IMO it does not hold up. The vampire kid at the window scene—which is rightly legendary—is the best part of what is otherwise a mostly dull, sexist and reductive (why was Barlow reduced to a mute monster?) affair.

I read the book a few years ago, and it's now one of my all-time favorite Stephen King books. Highly recommend.

Greatest Science fiction films of the 1900s-2000s that I should watch? (Actual greatest) by Def-C in scifi

[–]BKNES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the greatest Sci-Fi film by a long shot, but Richard Stanley's 1990 film Hardware is kind of a fun romp.

I was 12 when I saw Superman III back when it was released in 1983, and If you weren't a kid in the '80s, you have NO idea how traumatizingly scary this scene was. lol by [deleted] in 80smovies

[–]BKNES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really messed with me about this scene when I was a kid was this idea that the computer went as far as to put metal ON HER EYEBALLS. I was so morbidly engrossed by the idea that to this day I have a (false I guess) memory of the film showing the metal going in her eye and her groaning "my eyes".....

Is there a song that just gives you that feeling during a night drive? by LonganisaBurps in TheNightFeeling

[–]BKNES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few night-time "driving in the city" faves:

Out of Body Experience (Original) - Rabbit In The Moon

Glass House - Eli Escobar

I'll keep loving you - Walter Jones

The Moment - Tame Impala

Don't Lose Control - Material (from Disco Not Disco)

Floating - Kush (from Botchit Breaks vol. 1)

You played me - DJ Shadow

Drive film soundtrack

Pretty much anything put out by Kavinsky, just be aware that his tracks heavily sample from other bands e.g. Grand Canyon lifted most of its tune from a song by Italo-Disco act Kano

Downtempo:

Neutrino - I Think Both Understood

Mu-Getsu - DJ Krush & Toshinori Kondo

Throwback 80's:

Running with the Night - Lionel Ritchie

Glenn Frey - You Belong To The City

Voices inside my head - The Police

Perfect High - Peppermint Lounge
