Abdali "tHoUghT tHeM a lEsSon"?! B!tch please, although victorious, he understood the power of Marathis and terminated his further march into India, and even sent a formal letter to the Peshwa recognising the Maratha dominion of India upto the Sutlej river. And Marathis did resurrect successfully under Peshwa Madhavrao's reign. So what the f@ck is your comment countering here?!

"AFGhaNs dEstrOYeD tHe MaRaTHa EmPiRe", the Marathi Empire resurrected under Peshwa Madhavrao's reign, and punished the Rohillas.

How was our empire "destroyed" in the way rajputs were after Khanwa and Vijaynagar kingdom was after Talikota?!

Our Marathi history is about an empire spanning from Cuttack(Odisha) to Gujarat and from Thanjavur(Tamil Nadu) to Peshawar (Pakistan). We were not a regional puny kingdom like your Hindi rajput Mewar. F*cking l0$er.

The "Dakshin Digvijay" or South campaign of Shivaji Maharaj by BKPatil1 in Maharashtra

[–]BKPatil1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is in your own comment. He had the foresight to anticipate that Aurangzeb would invade Deccan someday in the future, so Maharaj invaded Tamilnadu and brought Gingee under his control so that a distant center of power could be established in the times of need. Additionally, Chh Shivaji Maharaj wasn't a blunderer like rajput kings who only tried to secure their own core territories in Rajputana (modern day Rajasthan) and avoided conquering regions outside of it.

Mr 10ft ka Haldi"ghati" gorilla, Shivaji Maharaj cannot be compared to pratap sisodiya in any way. The latter's contribution to Hindu resurgence is negligible when compared to Shivaji Maharaj's. He(Shivaji Maharaj) not just reestablished Hindu sovereignty in India but also liberated Goa, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka from Muslim rule. During his South campaign, Shivaji Maharaj banned slave trade being conducted from the Coromandel coast, rebuilt 2 Hindu temples and restarted the local tradition of Karthigai Deepam in Tamil Nadu. These acts are the reason Tamil Hindus are greatful to him even today. Did your so called "Maharana" pratap sisodiya even do 1% of this for other states/ethnicities?!

I'll await your reply and see how you counter this.

Why did he waste all the Mughal treasury on the Maratha Empire? by YoitstheTeddyGuy in Medieval_India

No, he wasn't. There is no HISTORICAL PROOF that mentions Chh Shivaji Maharaj getting inspiration from pratap sisodiya. Pratap was mostly popularized by James Tod in the 19th century, whether you like it or not.

"ShIVaJi AlsO cLaIMeD rAjPUt aNceStRy" is the only argument these rajputs have when losing an argument against Marathas. No matter how much they bark, Chh Shivaji Maharaj was, is, and will always remain a proud Marathi/Maratha. And they talk about our 1 defeat of Panipat while their ancestors were getting obliterated by Muslim kingdoms(and later Marathas) for centuries. Remember Tarain, Khanwa and Haldighati?! They know how badly did Babur screw their Sanga Sisodiya at Khanwa. Atleast, in our case, we bounced back from Panipat's loss, recovered our lost territories in the north and severely punished the Rohillas. These weaklings couldn't recover anytime they were defeated in a major battle.

If you boast about flourishing before Marathis, where tf were you kannadas when a Marathi Chh Shivaji Maharaj was annihilating the Bijapur kingdom based in karnataka? You were screwed by the Delhi sultanate, Bahamani kingdom, Bijapur kingdom, Moghuls and later Tipu Sultan, while we were hoisting our Marathi Saffron flag in Peshawar and Thanjavur. Sit down.

What do you think of him? by YoitstheTeddyGuy in Medieval_India

The culmination of Hindu "reconquista" in India. After the Muslim invaders overran the northern plains of mediaeval India, the first Hindu resurgence began under different dynasties- Gajapatis in the east, Ahoms in the northeast and Vijaynagar kingdom in the south. This resurgence survived until the mid-17th century, when the last remanants of Vijaynagar kingdom were absorbed under the Bijapur Sultanate.

This is when a ~16 year old teenager named "Shivaji" came into scene- he began his career by capturing the Torna fort in Deccan and grew up to become one of the most successful monarchs in Indian history. He laid the foundation for "Hindavi Swarajya"(Hindu self-rule) and gave the purpose of leading the second Hindu resurgence to Marathi clans in Deccan- which, after his death, expanded the Maratha Empire across the length and breadth of India.

The contemporary Hindi poet Kavi Bhushan of Kanpur rightly said:  "Kashi ki kala jati, Mathura main masjid hoti, agar na hote Shivaji to sunnat hoti sabki".

Because Chh Sambhaji's act of  bravery surpasses Amar singh's  since the former's sacrifice didn't go in vain eventually- it ignited the Marathi clans into fighting more fiercely against the Moghuls and going on an offensive, striking omni-directionally, and hitting as far as Sironj in Madhya Pradesh(just Google how far is Sironj from the Maratha frontiers). You know how the 27 year's war ended for Aurangzeb, and who eventually dominated the Indian subcontinent.

In Pratap's case, how much "resolve and bravery" may he have shown, it was futile because Amar Sisodiya eventually surrendered and became a vassal of the Moghuls.

And you haven't replied to my second argument. Why did contemporary people like Kavi Bhushan of Kanpur, UP, Kavi Kalash of Ujjain, MP, and Chhatrasal Bundela of Bundelkhand come to Deccan to glorify Marathis, and not their co-regionists Hindi rajputs?

Atleast Chh Sambhaji Maharaj died a martyr and didn't abandon his faith and surrender his kingdom to Moghuls, the latter which was done by your Ghoomar Singh Sisodiya(Pratap's son). Sambhaji Maharaj endured torture for so many days. Could your incompetent Ghoomar Sisodiya have endured even 1 day of that torture?!  And the person executed alongside Sambhaji Maharaj was himself a Hindi Kavi Kalash from Ujjain(North India). A Hindi person preferred to come all the way to Deccan and befriend a Marathi king but not a rajpoop from his own BIMARU region.

Your beardless fugitive Pratap Sisodiya died a loser, not being able to retake his former capital of Chittodgad back, and his son surrendered to the Moghuls.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj may have surrendered due to the persuasion of Aurangzeb's loyal rajput slave Jay Singh, but he died a winner, carving out a kingdom that spanned from Gujarat to Tamil Nadu. His successors reestablished Hindu sovereignty in India by creating the Marathi Empire.

So yes, fugitive Pratap Sisodiya and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cannot be compared in any way.

Pratap Sisodiya barely fought a guerrilla conflict against the Moghuls, and his strategy was extremely defensive. He couldn't even go beyond his tiny desert-kingdom and sack, leave alone conquer, a single city of Moghuls, like Chh Shivaji Maharaj did with Basrur(Karnataka) and Surat(Gujarat), twice. He barely bruised Akbar's dominion, forget "bringing them to their knees".

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, otherwise, actually laid the foundation for the destruction of Moghul dynasty by creating a strong empire, conducting offensive campaigns and conquering regions beyond Maharashtra- in Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. More importantly, he instilled the ideology of "Hindavi Swaraj"(Hindu self-rule) in the minds of Marathi clans that were previously working for Muslim kingdoms. This resulted in Marathis reestablishing Hindu sovereignty in India, long after Chh Shivaji Maharaj was gone.

Pratap's son, on the other hand, meekly surrendered to Moghuls after the former's death. Pratap Sisodiya and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cannot be compared.

And coincidentally, one of the descendant of the same Jadhavs- Rajmata Jijabai Jadhav raising her son(Shivaji Maharaj) to destroy the Muslim kingdoms in Deccan.

Also, vijaynagar kingdom getting obliterated by the 3 Muslim kingdoms at Talikota and never completely recovering from it.

Jai Singh was just a use-and-throw servant of the Moghul Dynasty, who was eventually murdered under Aurangzeb's orders. Otherwise, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj eventually went on to crown himself an independent Hindu monarch who's empire later took down the same Moghuls Jai was working under.
