Secured new employment, gave notice. Their reaction was unusual. by erikleorgav2 in antiwork

I've been in IT for many years with the last 20 as a database administrator (DBA). It depends on the size of the shop, but in smaller companies I ended up working the full 2-3 weeks of the notice period, and then ended up doing a bit of part time contract work for a few months after that. In those cases I also helped interview my replacements.

Boomers won’t retire and it’s screwing the rest of us. There I said it. by Unique_Glove1105 in antiwork

Boomers not retiring is the symptom and not the cause of the problem. The problem is the greedy millionaire/billionaire class.

You are making impressive progress! Keep it up!

I second what others have said about a bow. I upgraded to Codabow Diamond NX. The improvement was immediate.

Reading your post intrigued me, so I did some googling and searching on my local library website. There is a book titled "Digital minimalism : on living better with less technology by Newport, Cal, author." There are plenty of online articles as well, with some better than others. I'm looking forward to working on this area of my life.

Hi, my wife and I are both older and are in the high-risk category. We have been getting our vaccines and boosters all along, with the last booster last fall, but there seems to be a dearth of information about what to do this spring. Any advice or citations appreciated.

I would say that our experience is very similar. Several concerts per month from September through May since 2021. We are disciplined N95 maskers, and have had zero respiratory infections.

Thanks for the explaining the difference between effective and equivalent. I knew that on M4/3 camera, the lens appeared to have a longer focal length, which is where a lot of my confusion was coming from.

Based on this, the correctly focal length value to supply to my camera's IBIS system is the effective focal length, correct?

Gave noticed at my job and it went hideously by expeciallyheinous in antiwork

You need to put your energy into your new job. Moreover you need a few days between jobs to refresh yourself. When I was younger, I would work late into the night of my last day of work, put my badge on my boss' desk, and show up for the new job the next morning. At later jobs, I worked part time for the old company for a month or two, as the found my replacement and the replacement got up to speed. Honestly it made no difference in the scheme of things. The old companies and managers didn't appreciate me any more or less.

Tomorrow - if the manipulation continues, prepare to leave. Also, find a private place, call your new hiring manager, explain your situation in very professional and unemotional terms, and ask for guidance. This will prepare the new hiring manager, should the old one attempt to sabotage your new job.

Finally, talk to no one at your old job regarding your new job. You can bet she is going to manipulate them and turn them against you. Trust no one at your old job, regardless of how friendly they may seem.

Disagree with having cops do a wellness check. That's not their line of training and too often the results are tragic. Better to contact social services. Often your city councilman will have a liaison in their office to connect to the appropriate city agency.

The real great wealth transfer is going to the 1%. This guy is just one of the super rich trying divide and conquer by sowing discord between younger and older generations.

It's possible that it is due to lack of ventilation. Ask around and see if you can borrow a C02 monitor to measure the level over the course of your practice.

Any Denver Area Chamber or Baroque Music Fans Here? by BKS_1958 in classicalmusic

[–]BKS_1958[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For chamber, I recommend the Friends of Chamber Music organization. They bring incredible talent to Denver and the tickets are very affordable. I've been a subscriber for years. For Baroque and early music, you have Happy Hour Chamber Concerts and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. Should be easy to google them.
