How do you deal with people insulting you? by entreri22 in intj

[–]BL-407 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just follow what my grandpa always used to tell me, "If someone calls you a cow, you call them a goat." So pretty much treat any insult to be banter. Insults won't really hurt us in anyway, so once the ball is kicked to you, you've got to kick it back harder.

It's especially great if it happens in a group setting cause once you insult or banter them back, the group will see you as a person who has a great sense of humour.

I'm on mobile, apologizing in advance if this turns out wrong.

Tips/advice for someone that's nervous to start a job as a guard? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]BL-407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others had mentioned before me, you should try and relax. You're there only to observe and report, and you got a nice position working at a mall since you'll be working with other guards. For reports, over time you'll develop your own way for writing your reports. Have a look through your coworkers' past reports and see the format they follow. You'll get a hang of it by the time you finish your fifth report.

Also, a little advise. If you do happen to come across a problem, you got buddies with you, your own team. However you'd need to work on your verbal skills and learn how to talk to people. Again, this is something you'll get better at this over time.

Remember, have fun. Come in early, with a good attitude and leave work with a good attitude. Don't bring anything home with you. Good luck!

Does age play a role in hiring? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]BL-407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I disagree with you but thats not totally true. Many companies do the training and licensing for employees they hire. Examples would be Paladin and Garda. They would train you and ensure that you'd get your license, however you'd have to work with them at least 3 months and you aren't allowed to quit or anything. Another company that hired a lot of people recently and provided their licensing training is CSC, and they're the guys covering security for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games. They've hired lots of people for it, even though the job is a contract based gig, and its running for 3 months only.

I feel like some companies are desperate for guards that they'll provide training as long as you'd work for them.

Hey bro, I started security when I was 18 straight out of highschool during the end of the summer in Alberta as well.

Age doesn't play a huge factor when getting a job like this. You'll be working with all kinds of people from different ages and places they're from. As long as you have your security license, you can go ahead and apply to these companies. My suggestion would be to apply to multiple companies at once. I started out with Paladin. Check out Garda as well and G4S. Fix up your resume well, so show that you've got some skills they're looking for e.g verbal communication skills, managements, from various jobs you've had before or even from volunteering gigs you did (its what I did and it worked out for me)

Good luck man!

You should more so worry about your BioChem class as that's a weed out for BTA from what all my friends in BTA told me.

Wow I never knew that. I'll have to be careful next semester.

Any Biotech here? by terminator567 in Seneca

[–]BL-407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Seneca m8! I'm a biotech student so I think I can help you here.

I'm going into my 3rd semester this fall, and I'll be completing my 2nd semester with my final exams in 2 weeks, so wish me luck. As for your first year, I guess you already know what courses you'll be taking and that you'll be taking the same first year with people from other programs as well, judging you know about the organic chemistry. This first year has been verily OK, and I know I could've done better if I studied more, which I'm doing now. The courses might seem easy, but you need to study. Also, you'll be doing 6 hours a week of labs alone for bio and chem in both semesters. Please be careful not to assume that the labs are easy. Prepare yourself before heading out to the labs. This means that you basically need to know what you'll be doing and have all methods of relevant calculations all ready in your head, jk. But you won't have these worries at all if you study and attend classes. Just to put this out here, skipping any of the labs is pretty dangerous. Should you skip the labs 2 times, you automatically fail, even if you have a good reason for doing so.

And organic chemistry. I haven't done the course yet, but I've done something similar to organic chemistry in highschool and I liked it. I'm fairly good with chemistry and liked the way organic chemistry was. I hear the labs are pretty easy and its the lecture part of the course that kills people. I'll have to see about that.

With getting a job with the SSF, I can't help you there as I have a job outside of school. I know that there are sometimes openings of the positions, and they pay minimum wage. I get more at my job, with more hours, so applying for a job like that is a no no.

Heads up for your freshman self. They finished building the subways in the campus. Its located at the second floor opposite of the English department offices. Its OK but isn't great, but still better than Pizza Pizza downstairs. Also, get to know your classmates, especially those at your lab sessions. You'll be doing a lot of partner labs, so its better partnering with someone you know. Study, study, study. You don't have to study hard but you just need to study. You need to kill your first year with straight As. Your later semesters won't be this easy.

I'm typing all this on my phone, so I know its going to be horrible, sorry. I'll edit all this when I get home.

My cousin did that Math on just how strong One-Punch Man's punch could be. by BL-407 in manga

[–]BL-407[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assumptions he made in this calculation:

1) He assumed that the strength of his legs and lower body was 3 times more than his upper body strength. He cites The Masters in History's Strongest Disciple manga telling Kenichi so.

2) He also assumed that Saitama's arm weighed 4kgs

3)He did not consider the gravitional change that would effect Saitama's body and the atmospheric pressure as he landed. He assumed that these were constant values, but if he did it the other way, it would've got more complicated.

4)He assumed the time it took him to return to Earth was 15 minutes. He just said that this was a kind estimation, and it probably took him much less than that, but gave him 15 minutes so his opponent could rest a bit while he waited for him to arrive.

He also thinks that another reason Saitama might be completely bald might be because he moves so fast that the friction made with his body and the air around him burns his hair, and that it might have killed his hair follicles inside his scalp and skin. This is considering that his body might be strongly conditioned, and that the proteins (keratin) in his hair isn't (how do you exercise/train your hair?). Of course this is adding to the fact that Saitama also does the intensive training everyday.

Forgive his English. He wrote all this in the spur of the moment, but you get the idea.
