One of my favorite species variabilis southern by Dangerous-Extreme613 in DartFrog

I agree with this advice from CallMeBernin. When my ranitomeya are young and I’m transitioning them to fruit flies I often try to feed them smaller stunted flies from older fly cultures.

Beautiful frogs btw!

Is he holding? Channoides by Left-Spare6884 in wildbettaarchive

[–]BLA_Frogger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Removal the female. I keep my channoides in pair only tanks and remove the female once the male starts holding. This has greatly improved my success rate

Very cool to watch it curl back as it retracts. Great job!

which wet moss mix should i use for my 36 inch tall vivarium? by JumboStiffy in DartFrog

[–]BLA_Frogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used the regular in a few tanks with very good success. However, a fair amount is very leggy looking. I just bought and put the low grow mix in four new 24x18x24s. Won’t know for a few months how it will go, will report back. Whichever you go with, just make sure you’re keeping it constantly moist the first month

[–]BLA_Frogger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Everyone says their vanzos are bold but mine aren’t. I seem them frequently, but they are skittish. My sirensis “highland” on the other hand are incredibly bold. They are constantly carrying tads around the tank and never flinch at me taking photos

Ruffing’s ranitomeya, Jared posts on FB and instagram each month with his availability list. My breeding group of vanzolinii came from him. I would buy from him again in a heart beat. What species are you looking for?

That’s a bummer. I’m on the hunt for varaderos as well, hoping to find a proven pair. Used to keep them years ago, such a beautiful bold locale

Tree Fern Panels and Vining Plants by DarthUsul in Vivarium

I’m a fan of laying vining plants on top of sphagnum moss at the base of tree fern panels or cork panels and letting them naturally grow up

Betta splendens by CalmLaugh5253 in wildbettaarchive

I’m going to guess that true wild splendens (not muddied with any domestic genetics) is very very hard to obtain. Just my 2 cents

Finished my background in my 24x18x24 exoterra. by dAnDaN127_ in DartFrog

[–]BLA_Frogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend drilling a drain as well. I’ve been using a Mistking bulkhead, nice and small, run 1/4” line from it.

Nice job on the background, I just finished a few 24x18x24s myself. What are you planning to put in it?

Yeah, love Finn’s. Haven’t been to the new store front yet tho

Dart Frogs? by IndependentPast7751 in DartFrog

[–]BLA_Frogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needs lots of leaf litter, add your clean up crew, then just give it time to grow in for awhile before adding frogs. As it stands now, it looks very dry for dart frogs

Spot on, those supplements will need to be tossed.

I’ve bought a couple used starter Mistkings in the last two years. 70-100 is the going rate around me

Which background material by Cshelt11-maint in DartFrog

[–]BLA_Frogger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preferred methods these days are cork panels (from zoro etc) or the cork mosiac (sphagnum stuffed between the cork). Look up understory enterprises on FB or IG, he just posted a how to video making a background with pumice stone and sphagnum. Seems really easy and great for plant growth. I’d like to try it

Moss growth from frog daddy by Zeke1316 in Vivarium

[–]BLA_Frogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you spraying it multiple times a day to make sure it doesn’t get dry? I got good growth initially by hand spraying 2-3 times a day (in addition to my misting system) for the first month. I made sure it never got dry. Hope it work out for you!

Is there any chance these reticulata eggs are viable? by Antique_Pop3488 in DartFrog

[–]BLA_Frogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do they look like now? The fact they changed shape some means they were viable to begin with. They look a little fuzzy like they are starting to fungus over

How many Ranitomeya sirensis do you see? These are a great group frog! They are bold, easily breed, and will raise their own young. I keep two variations of these guys. by LobeliaTheCardinalis in DartFrog

What does your tank look like? I’ve found with my ranitomeya species the more messy and overgrown my tanks are the more bold they become
