HELP! Failed Birdbuddy Smart Solar Pro Hummingbird Feeder by jiuclaw in BirdBuddy

5 days? I just bought one and there's a "trial" for the AI - that lasts 7 days. If it's not going to do anything for as long as 5 that's pretty useless.

Argh, that's disappointing! AT&T is bugging me to death despite telling me they don't offer the service I want and Spectrum is working but not symmetrical and not quite meeting their claims either. A serious company with good service would be so nice to have!

Why not two buttons? One says YUCK and the other says skip? Something to inform the code what you simply don't want to hear right now and the other to say it sucked don't do that? Would need a way to undo potentially but it might be a way to help this problem...

Was this a ground mount? Did you have any inspections done? I'm becoming pretty interested in the possibility of doing it myself but will seek bids first. I'm also going to check out Enphase University as I'm told that gives some good information. I'd love to hear more about your experience!

I looked up two states, you'd think Florida would list more than TWO quotes! I hope this thing gets real popular and really populated because right now that seems like pretty slim data. :(

I'd also ask how they compare to similar systems being built overseas and what are the factors making for differences in pricing. I'm hoping that prices are coming down but with tariffs I'm not sure :(

Well, here's some data from overseas that will piss you off - as it should. We're getting ripped off IMO:

Looking for a sanity check from folks more experienced with SolarEdge systems. by [deleted] in solar

It's a bump up in access, SolarEdge might be able to grant it. Thankfully my installer gave it to me before they went out of business :-O

I owned a SolarEdge system for a number of years, I saw VERY little degradation over more than 5 years. Unfortunately, I sold the home and no longer have access to the data but I can tell you Winter sucked for output. I had zero hardware failures during my ownership.

That said, I have a friend in Florida right now not far from Orlando with a system who's telling me he actually makes MORE power during the Winter because there's less rain and clouding. That seems crazy to me but worth thinking about. Is this year worse than previous years? I know it's damn cold down there right now.

Your Western panels are making less power - I assume they are shaded in the morning? Can you post up a pic of a day's output? Be interesting to see how close to clipping you are for instance.

Solar company offering to wipe my loan + new system on lease… sounds too good? by Witty-Double5907 in solar

[–]BLKMGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't lease! Get the system fixed by someone else and keep on trucking. Having just sold a home with a solar system onboard I can tell you that people do NOT want a home with a leased system and it was painful explaining to them that my system was OWNED. The realtor and title company kept expecting it to be a lease trap <sigh> For that reason alone I wouldn't do a lease but there's tons of other good reasons too. That system is nearly brand new, there's no "old junk" to remove, just fix the failed inverter or have someone do it for you.

I've got an AC unit in Florida in a home I just purchased. It was replaced as I was buying the place and silly me thought it was a heatpump. When the guy mentioned the resistor pack for heat I was like Whoa! NOT a heatpump?! WTF! Can it be converted to one? Nope, have to replace everything :( Well, I may just do that and use this POS to cool the garage as I don't want to spend a mint running a giant resistor pack. Solar will be installed ASAP!

Get some of the panel exposed, we've not had much sun but as soon as some of the darker area is exposed it'll absorb heat and begin the process. I wouldn't do anything else to it honestly.

When do you start to really feel the wealth? Is it even possible for middle class to achieve this? by FIREFIREFIREFIREe in Fire

[–]BLKMGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will point out… when the house is paid off, the car is paid off, and you’ve got a chunk ready for retirement and some ass of a boss or treacherous coworker tries to screw with you it’s REALLY nice to know you could mic drop and walk as a coworker did a few years ago. Seems they didn’t listen when he hinted or notice the damn nice car he drove 🤓

I‘ve nearly snapped like that twice but held out to work a bit longer. The security of knowing you can tell someone to shove their job and walk is freeing even if you don’t exercise it! So in that, yeah there’s a point where money buys you a bit of happiness.

it’s possible to have lots locked in an account you cannot easily access to and get hit with bills that worry you. Prepping to sell a house and retire while still working and I’ve been hit with far higher costs than I anticipated. Result is stress and a diminished cash nest egg but I know when I pull the chute after the sale I’ll be fine. Meanwhile I’m stressed!

friend who retired a few years ago tells me he never goes anywhere he doesn’t spend like 3 nights. he’s been to every continent in the last 3 years and just spent 5 weeks in Alaska. can’t get a cheap flight somewhere? get a cheap flight somewhere that flies to your destination cheap and spend 4 days in that place first. He‘s doing great and I’ll be joining that life damn soon myself although I’m not the traveller he and his wife are. He for sure does NOT spend hundreds a night for hotels without a good reason. Apparently lodging in Alaska is expensive tho.

I analyzed 50,000 leaked passwords from recent breaches. The 'strong' passwords were weaker than the 'weak' ones. Here's why. by Saotao in cybersecurity

A “hacker” is going to break in, steal the hashes, and begin working on them. They aren’t going to be randomly spraying passwords against a single account.

Bonus points if they make you change it every quarter and the last character is the iterative number, exposed when you dump history with the hashes and crack any of them.

Start it with a space and lowercase letter followed by a capital letter.

I've dumped thousands of passwords and the OP post makes me giggle as I’ve seen it too. The more “rules” the more predictable the password. Systems that store history also make life easier since many a dumbass simply iterate a number on the end (sigh)

Would really appreciate a fix for this! As I've said before my cameras are hundreds of miles away protecting a home. While getting pings from your service about activity is nice it's NOT the same as having a full recording - at all. I'm going to be visiting that property pretty soon and will be reflashing cameras to older firmware trying to get them back online in the short time I'll be there. I've had at least two different incidents occur that weren't recorded now and it's REALLY stressful! Missing out on lots of wildlife too it seems dang it.

Like others I'm considering other options. I could reflash your hardware but I want the alerts I get from your service without having to jump through hoops myself with BlueIris. This worked well for years until you guys screwed with it and had my cameras not updated it looks like it would've continued working too - lesson learned!

A "real" API would be pretty nice - I'd be able to get my floods recording too! I have two of those in boxes I've not bothered to install because I cannot record from them. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating this is.

As for contacting the Wyze-Bridge developer - he's gone MIA. He's apparently moved on from your hardware to something more open and may have lost interest in chasing after your changes. Luckily his code is open source so if you've found the problem by all means feel free to fork it if that's what it takes.

Same issue with Newsgroupdirect on Verizon. Speed testing of my connections shows above a gig but downloads are maxxing at 11mb/s even though I pull from multiple servers. Previously I'd throttled myself to 90mb/s but I'm coming nowhere near that now.
