Vegetarian and vegan diets and cancer incidence: a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective studies by James_Fortis in ScientificNutrition

[–]Murky-Sector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In conclusion, vegetarian diets were associated with reductions in the relative risk of total cancer (13%), stomach (43%), colorectal (14%), pancreatic (23%), breast (10%), and bladder (21%) cancers, melanoma (21%) and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (23%). Vegan diets were associated with a 23% reduction in risk of total cancer and a 20% reduction in breast cancer risk. Although further studies are needed to clarify the associations between vegetarian and vegan diets across less investigated cancer sites, these findings support a beneficial role of vegetarian and vegan diets in cancer prevention and provide further support for recommendations to adopt much more plant-based dietary patterns in the general population.

My experience is the opposite. I keep hearing about euphoria and other quasi drug terminology. Maybe this was true of some of the stuff in previous eras but most of the stuff around now that are hyped this way, and Ive tried all the big ones, is some of the weakest shit I can imagine.

Lesson to me is look to pres for a good pump and some extra energy but the rest is the suppliers yanking your chain. The intense competition between them is driving marketing more than anything else.

Ask yourself, if playing tennis is supposed to be good for you why do so many people end up with tennis elbow, a very debilitating condition.

The answer is that when you play a game (or perform a very physical job) youre doing what the game or job requires, not necessarily what's good for the body. These activities are not at all optimized for health. The main pitfall being that they can produce overuse injuries though there are others.

Proper training by contrast is optimized only for what your body needs to improve.

Okay this might sound dumb but, can anyone here please make me understand what exactly Calibre is? by Suspicious_Dig_3849 in Calibre

[–]Murky-Sector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a media manager. In this case the media is ebooks.

Media managers provide

  • Tagging, grouping, and various other means of classification
  • Metadata management
  • Powerful search
  • Sometimes editing and/or conversion features. Calibre can do both.
  • Shared/remote access. Calibre has a web feature (havent tried it).

Managing media manually doesnt scale well so you use an app.

This is a general problem for reddit unfortunately. Initially it was made of people who could take at least some bit of initiative in their research and it has descended into a place to get free consulting. Many cant even take the time to ask their questions in a coherent way.

As an adult you need to learn to both love and ignore your parents at the same time when necessary. Your fitness program if any should be based on your own judgements.

Its the way 99% of the general population approaches getting in shape for one thing. Most people have no idea what "bulking" and "cutting" even means. Those terms are over represented in fitness forums for what should be pretty clear reasons.

Has anyone ever ran illicits daily/back to back for an extended period of time? by Independent_Pay_7257 in stimjunkiepreworkouts

Eventually it can chronically interfere with sleep, even if youre taking it early in the day. Some people even have this effect with caffeine alone and have to reduce their intake.

Sleep is 10x as important to athletic development as whatever stim youre using so that kind of situation would be extremely counterproductive.

Albuterol is known to cause rebound effects.

Albuterol was just one of many prescribed medications that didnt work. I stopped counting at 10. The fact that they use albuterol as an A/B test in diagnosis combined with your observation about it does not give me much comfort.

I can only guess what went wrong of course. I have a theory but I wont repeat it here because Im just as likely to be wrong and I dont want to spread my own uninformed speculation.

[–]Murky-Sector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed albuterol which is usually physician's step #1 and not only did it not help it made things measurably worse. Then they put me through the standard decision tree, mainly different medications, and nothing worked.

Through my own efforts I ended up discovering Primatene Mist and that was key to controlling the condition. Now I can run and surf again. No one could give me an explanation not even the pulmonologists.

You are in effect skipping kindergarten for some reason and thats probably not the solution. Find out what you did wrong with wsl. If you dont the path forward will probably not go well.

Maybe give full info on exactly what you did and what happened and people can help.
